There is no expectation of privacy anywhere using any OS or Browser ob the NET. Period.

    Open Ports

There's a door open and this is good enough to close a few of them. That's the third option Kari before switching to MAC!

I see in this thread similarity with Ccleaner or those who clean Windows and those who don't. Here, <<PRIVACY>> tools and tweaks close doors and ports.

In the other classroom, we do not suffer from wilful blindness, we just don't trust the company.

If you don't trust the company, don't use its products. Period!

There are many degrees of trust, doesn't have to be 100%. Who can you trust nowadays ?

    Hi there.

As soon as you go into a Bank, or pay with a debit / credit card or apply for any Govt type of thing (drivers licences etc) or even get a salary and pay tax there's already more data collected than Ms, Google, Amazon etc do together -- and unfortunately some of those agencies can legally hand it out to 3rd parties -- for example exemptions apply to credit ref agencies (Experian, Equifax etc) from parts of data protection acts.

Some Govt depts. can hand data out too --either for the basic catchall "In the Interests of State security..... B/S" or "To improve Govt services ----again B/S".

This whole thread on Ms as "The evil Empire" is just total paranoia and ridiculous.

As others have commented if you don't like the company or its products don't use them.
There are plenty of ways to stop getting pestered by unwanted "offers" etc.

I don't care even if Ms wants to know what times I visit the bog or what colour the paper is -- if it can find use for that info well good luck to it. Somebody must have an important job then.

Personally W10 currently apart from a minor glitch with multiple Languages is the easiest and most trouble free windows yet and is on the whole a decent product.

I like Linux too but sometimes you have to do a bit of work to make it function 100% -- Windows for most people just works straight OOTB . It's still used on around 85% of the worlds (non server type) computers and has been for over 30 years so it can't be too bad or it would have been replaced a long time ago by something else.

    Cheers

I use W10 without any privacy adjustments (only adds are skipped), Google, Gmail and other Google services (translator, Maps etc.), Facebook too and still no ill effects but I'm careful what I post. According to all paranoiacs I should be famous and well known by now.

...and he's interested for privacy on that too!

You can make your device (Windows, Mac, Android etc.) completely silent on the net -for data collectors- but I think, this is not the point.

For sure, data collection by anyone, does not improve experience... as collectors use to say.
It just "improves" the world we are going to live....

P S: Please, do not "offer" me my needs! I prefer to think about them...
