I always get en-US keyboard when I clean install with French keyboard and choose "Don't add another". You must add the keyboard of the installed language to remove it from notification area.

Do this in language settings under English (United Kingdom)

    Add Keyboard QWERTY UK
    Delete Keyboard QWERTY UK

    Then it will go.

Try add QWERTY UK keyboard to English UK language and restart.

Then choose QWERTY US in language bar. Then delete UK keyboard.

Make sure also you are not synching settings for language as this will put back incorrect keyboard.

If not I don't know - I always get this problem but after add/delete it does away again.
