    Welcome to Ten Forums Charlotte.

Those who have sensitive eyesight often find that it's the blue light in particular that causes problems. You could experiment with turning on Night light during the day and see if it helps, you can adjust Night light to make the screen have as warm a tone as you want. Play around with it's 'strength' adjustment and see what feels comfortable.

If that helps, then you can make a permanent adjustment (so you won't need to keep turning Night light on). The way to permanently adjust the colour balance of your display is to use Display calibration.

Calibrate Display Color in Windows 10

At Step 12 in the tutorial you can turn down the blue and green levels to give a warmer look, just as Night light does, except that this is a permanent setting.

    Hi Charlotte,

This was years ago, now! 😊

My eyes were okay in the end. Not sure why. However, I am for the past year getting bad eye pain when looking at my phone or pc screen. Unrelated to Windows 10. Have you tried computer glasses etc?
    Hi Gelbs!

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

Nice to hear that your eyes were OK in the end 👍😊

But sorry to hear that it has getting worse again...

Do you have idea what made W10 works for you in the end?

Yes, I have computer glasses. However, ordered blue light glasses from optiker today and see if that can help...

    Hey Charlotte.

I'm not sure. I think I installed the monitor colour settings. It might just be that I got used to it. Have you tried dark mode? That will help. Also use high contast settings. But use a darker colour. I do that when using Word etc. No white background! 🙂

It has nothing to do with color, or night light, or blue light. The issue is with dwm.exe, the Windows Desktop Manager. It's what controls the windows display. DWM was changed in Windows 8 and again in Windows 10, and the Windows 10 DWM is known to cause eye strain, fatigue, and headaches in many people. It was changed to accommodate tablet and phone displays and as such renders horribly on PC monitors.

Microsoft purposefully removed the ability to disable DWM in Windows 10, there is no way to disable DWM and still have a usable PC, and despite literally thousands of reports of this issue, Microsoft has firmly said "We don't care". Your only option is not to use Windows 10.
