Command Prompt not working and random black screens.

So hello there, I never really had any problems with my PCs I couldn't figure out myself but this one just baffles me. Yesterday I needed to open a .BAT file, but it just opens a small window for a second and then exits, that was strange as they all opened properly the same day, then I tried to check if it's just that one file, but all my other .BAT files don't work either, then I tried to manually open them with the command prompt, but that does the same thing. I haven't installed anything on my computer as far as I'm aware in the time between the files working and not working. To make things worse, today I started getting random black screens, some less random than other, most of them seem to happen right as I'm opening a .mp3 file or opening a new page on the browser, haven't checked if it happens on much else yet, encountered about 5 of them just trying to get to typing this thread. I first see a white "?" line in the middle of the screen, then my cursor just freezes and I get a black screen which varies in length from 1-5 seconds. Though sounds doesn't freeze for some odd reason.

I've been here since the days of Windows 95 and I've never seen something like this, especially since I didn't install anything which might cause it, and no update to windows or my drivers seem to have happened.

Welcome to the forum. I would expect a bat file to do just that if you run it it opens a Cmd prompt executes which take a Milly second then it closes. If you right click on the bat file and choose open with notepad you can edit it make sure you don't tick always open with notepad. If you edit the file and put pause as final line it will stay open

No, that didn't work, but not even the command prompt wants to stay open for some reason.

When your computer goes to a black screen, does it freeze and become unresponsive even when hitting control alt delete on your keyboard? Also does it show the same behaviors if you put the computer into safe mode?

The screen does freeze and the cursor becomes unresponsive but audio plays fine. Tried control-alt-delete and nothing. I did not try safe mode yet, I'll try that.

Alright, tested it and it doesn't seem to happen in safe mode.

Alright, I fixed it, seems like I fixed it by updating my graphics card drivers.
