Hi folks.
@CountMike et. al
almost FREE (GREEN) power here -- more geothermal energy than we could ever use in many life times to say nothing of hydro electric stuff too. A lot of data centres operate here because of incredibly cheap power and long term fixed contracts in some cases fixed prices for 30 years !! -- plus also no "Brexit" issues -- Iceland is in EEA and in Schengen zone so no probs with exports to EU if the technology was sensibly priced and available to do it.
Some enterprising youngster who wants to make a Zillion USD or whatever and make people like mark Zuckerberg etc look like paupers should find some sort of cheap way we could export this stuff. I'm far too old for this type of Engineering these days though otherwise this would have been a project I would have relished.
Not getting political but would save building a lot of expensive nuclear reactors with dubious technology and providing hideously expensive power.
cheers

I jumped wagon from XP to 7, but I agree that Vista color schemes were quite nice. Too bad everything is so spartan these days.
Some of you may remember me and my laptop.
Purchased it in Feb. 2018, took it home and all kinds of trouble.
Apps and programs slow to open and even slower to close.
Frozen startmenu, frozen mouse cursor, black screen etc. etc.
Any action, and I mean any action, like simply moving the cursor across the screen or scrolling on websites would make the computer freeze.
Laptop impossible to work with.
Took it back to the store and they sent it to the service center.
Result: No errors found.
Brought it home,-same shit as before.
So . . . I made changes to the swap-file. Instead of letting Windows manage it I changed the min. and max. file size to the recommended value and also chose max. performance instead of max. appearance.
Restarted,-and WOW . . . everything opens and closes super fast. No delays, no freezing, even the start menu behaves well.
Let's hope this continues . . .
But . . . you haven't heard the worst yet: Before I left the store they gave me a business card to some local computer nerd living down the street should I get more problems.
WTF!
Are these people imbecile?
What if you bought a new car and the stealership send you away to some backyard mechanic to fix the problems.
This just gets better and better. LOL

Based on your problem description and solution you may find that if your car engine doesn't work polishing the shocks may make it run better. Or perhaps replacing the tires.
Glad you got it sorted anyway but I'd suggest you keep the card.
