    Then I'd loose my warranty.
That's a common misconception. The warranty is for hardware replacements and support to help you solve software issues. Reinstalling the OS doesn't void the warranty.

Don't worry. You did the right choice, as long as the device serves it's purpose at the campus. The MAC is perfectly fine and you can always stick Windows in that too if OSX gets boring. Desperate times require desperate deeds.

Now you have time to fight with the stubborn HP and it's representative. :)
    Paljon kiitoksia.
My wife also has assignements at home when she's not on campus, so she just needed something that did the job,-fast.

When I fight HP you're welcome to join. Bring a bottle of Koskenkorva, some sisu and an iso puukko.

Hello @emtor be careful with the Win 7, if the CPU is an Intel from the 8th Gen, it can no longer support Win7.

Since you've determined there are no hardware issues, you have no reason to use the techs at the store or support from HP. As several of us have stated, this will be your solution.
    That's definitely a +1.
I would like to ask: is it worth keeping your warranty, can you get at least some of your money back?
--- What good is a warranty that doesn't come through on a computer that was essentially a lemon?

I would consider registering a formal complaint to HP directly about the computers condition since day 1.
I did that once for a friend a few years ago for an HP printer who was getting lousier than lousy service from where he had bought the printer from even though he had a warranty and HP responded without hesitation as they were never informed of the situation and the end result was he got a free replacement printer that's still running excellently.

I get what you are saying, but it's a moot point. You won't void a warranty by reinstalling the OS.

Regarding the warranty,-I've been asking myself the same question.
I'll let the store get one chance to check for hardware issues, and if they do not find anything the computer will still act up, since I suspect they won't dig too deep softwarewise. The tech won't spend hours on end staring at my computer while the clock ticks. Then I'll contact HP.
