This problem can often be fixed by signing out of your account and then signing back in.

The update or restart could not load your profile and you were signed in with a temp profile. Hence the diff desktop and any changes will not be saved, so do nothing on the new log-in. Sometimes you can fix by simply sign out and back in but if not, use this tutorial - Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile in Windows 10

You DO have a logon, you cannot use Windows 10 without signing in to an account. You just don't have a password set for your account, so you don't get asked to sign in at start up.

Windows will attempt to sign in the last user that had been signed in before it was shut down. Without a password you go straight in and don't see the log in screen, doesn't mean you haven't signed in though. :)

If you are able to logon perform these steps:
    1) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    4) chkdsk /scan
    5) net user test /add
    6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    7) shutdown /r
    8) sign on with the new user named test
    9) report into the thread whether the same message was the same or disappeared with the new user named test

--- That means what you saw before was windows 10 pro version1709 build 16299.xxx?

NOTE: "Windows 10 Pro Education builds on the commercial version of Windows 10 Pro and provides important management controls needed in schools."
