    Hi,
You can use the media creation tool if it's released it should create the media for it.
    Can't be any worse than 1709 I say :)

I'm just nervous since each update Microsoft will break something or take a feature away. Personally I wish they would allow us the option to disable Cortana completely and not make here part of the search function anymore.

Only Insiders have seen 1803 so far. Watch the News forum and you'll see threads on the Insider builds. There you'll find lots of comments from Insiders on what's new/working/borked, like this thread....

UPDATE 3/30: We have released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17133 (RS4) to Windows Insiders in the Slow ring. As part of this flight, we are testing the engineering systems responsible for the deployment of Windows 10 feature updates to customers...

NOTE: It will be listed as “Feature update for Windows 10, version 1803”.

    Hi,
Easiest way to avoid first round would be to switch update settings off of "Targeted" option.

Easy for you to say, you've got Pro. :)

We don't know what the OP has, it could be Home. From previous Features Updates, they only get rolled to the newest machines first - starting with the ones OEMs have tested for compatibility. The OP's 'custom' machine is probably going to have to wait months before windows update gets round to delivering it.

    Creators Update:
the first phase of the rollout targets newer devices. Based on testing work done with our OEM hardware and ISV app partners, we believe these devices will have the best possible update experience and help us decide when it’s time to begin the next phase of the rollout.
Windows 10 Creators Update rollout: First phase update

    Fall Creators Update:
The Fall Creators Update begins rolling out to newer devices tested by us and our device partners. By starting with machines which we believe will have the best update experience, we are able to get focused feedback on application compatibility and how Windows works with the rich ecosystem of available peripherals like Bluetooth devices or cameras. Additionally, we closely monitor feedback from fans and early adopters, through programs like Windows Insiders and Windows Insider for Business, in addition to feedback from our OEM device partners, and customers like you! This helps us determine when to accelerate the release to additional devices. We repeat this process until all compatible devices running Windows 10 worldwide are offered the Fall Creators Update.
Windows 10 Fall Creators Update phased rollout approach

The final phase - 'everyone else' - is usually months down the line.

I already changed my updates to not "targeted". I would love to upgrade but after some borked systems in the past, I prefer to let it hit and then read here about the good, the bad and the ugly.
