    mrgeek,
I just used the media creation tool method..I didn't see the need to create an iso, so I just opted to use the 'upgrade now' option. My desktop is an older model, as you can see..the one most important item that I'm pasting into my reply is this one: Secure Boot State Unsupported
    System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
System Model HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF PC
    System Type x64-based PC
    System SKU VS742UA#ABA
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
    BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 786G2 v02.03, 10/19/2015
    SMBIOS Version 2.6
    Embedded Controller Version 255.255
    BIOS Mode Legacy
    BaseBoard Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
    BaseBoard Model Not Available
    BaseBoard Name Base Board
    Platform Role Desktop
    Secure Boot State Unsupported
    PCR7 Configuration Binding Not Possible

Thanks so much for any suggestion's that are given..maybe I won't be able to update my desktop any further ??
    David
P.S. I downloaded / ran the SetupDiag program, of course it found several setup log's, I didn't run the program in the offline mode, so when it finished scanning the log files it closed automatically after performing that scan. What I need to find now is what's referenced here: SetupDiag creates a zip archive of all log files that it processed on top of that which it saves as Logs.zip in the same directory as well.

In post 99, you said "my desktop computer that's running Windows 10 Pro..Version 1709..Build 16299.334"

16299.334 is the most current official Windows 10, Fall Creators aka 1709. The MCT tool only supports the latest version of Win10 (1709, your install ver) but only the orig base version issued back in Oct '17, w/o any updates for which you are current, Congrats.
You have to wait a few days to redo the process, when the Spring Creator ISO is officially posted and MCT is updated.
The Secure Boot is not an issue, Win10 supports both your Legacy BIOS and more modern UEFI. Watch the News section and Brink will post the official ISO release and you now know the drill.

Exactly...spring creator's update isn't on there yet...it still has the fall creator's update which you already have and that's why it wouldn't work...you have to wait until it actually shows the new version on there...

    Hi All,
In my last post I mentioned this: What I need to find now is what's referenced here: SetupDiag creates a zip archive of all log files that it processed on top of that which it saves as Logs.zip in the same directory as well.I've been looking for that zip file, and so far no such luck. And of course I have the 'hidden files' box checked.

"SetupDiag creates a zip archive of all log files that it processed on top of that which it saves as Logs.zip in the same directory as well."

I just ran it and I got a .log text doc in the same directory. I don't have zip file, probably because I have no failed updates, but if one is generated, should be there too. Read thru the log file and see if it tells you what you need to know.

I keep checking MSDN aka VisualStudio.com and haven't seen it there so far.

    mrgeek,& everyone else.
Up until now..I haven't had any problem's when installing 'major' updates, of course I really don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for in the log file's anyway. As I have my system backed up, should I try re-installing the spring creators update..or just be patient ?? I'm going to re-read the installation prerequisites before trying to install the update again. It could have been something as simple as my hp all in one machine causing an issue. Once again..thanks so much for all of the help !!

Read post 112 again. You are completely up to date which is more than many people experience. So there should be zero issues with installing Spring Creators.
But you didn't have Spring Creators when you tried to install via MCT. You need to wait for the MCT to be updated to version 1803, as the one you tried is the same edition you already have, LESS 6 months of updates. The MCT tool is only updated a couple times a year.
So, yes, be patient, should be available in less than a week. Read the Forum's News section to keep up to date. Cheers.

    Hi there
search for it - get the esd and then convert to ISO -- plenty of references on the web. The update is the "real one" that will be shipped out to users not the Insider version(s).

If you install from these - ensure you only install the version of Windows you are licensed for.

Quick easy install -- probably the easiest Windows install ever.

So did anyone get spring creators update?-winver.png

certainly a lot easier than this one !!!! Windows 3.11 from floppy discs -- remember those !!

Yes, that's what I did but considering he's now experienced using MCT :) all that may be beyond his skill set vs waiting a week for the tool to get updated.
It was an easy install but I think this one went thru more Insider testing than any before it, so maybe they have the Upgrade thingy down by now. Thanks for the classic screenshot
