Windows 10 Spring Creators Update Release Date

Why are they waiting until April 10th to release this major update? It should be done by now for them to release it this week.

I think you will find there is always an "official" release date assigned, helps along with the Version number in keeping track of things. And having things dated helps when doing publicity releases about things.

@Berton, so when do you think the Media Creation tools will be available for this update? I will probably wait until the update comes for my HP PC as I don’t want to mess with it’s factory settings from HP. I will probably put the update on my mom’s PC via the Media Creation Tool.

FCU wasn't on the MCT site until the day it was released.

Consider that in late February Build 16299.15 was still on the MCT but we were up to, I think, Build 16299.248 it may be awhile after release.

You can spot the release date by the drastic increase in the number of problem posts on this forum!

S**t. How can I stop it installing? FCU wrecked my old HP laptop. I would at least like to wait a few weeks in case of any problems.

It is always released to Insiders two weeks before official release, so any significant last minute issues can be identified, and new patches developed. In worst case, this may necessitate a new build. This is why MS never state it is RTM until the actual day of release. Everything else you read is press speculation

I'm seeing an increasing number of articles on the various Windows news/rumors sites reporting that 1803 has been delayed. Here's an example from onMSFT: Public rollout of Windows 10 version 1803 reportedly delayed due to blocking bug. It could easily be two weeks or longer before 1803 makes its official debut.
