Okay, please restart and see if windows will run now. This is caused by earlier update so we need to be able to run Windows updates if you can get into Windows. If not go to elevated command prompt and copy and paste the following command to run Windows update from command line.
wuauclt.exe /updatenow
Would it just be easier to reset windows and have it copy all files and just reinstall apps I previously had on there?

I get in, but like before, screen goes black within a few seconds of logging in.

Did you try running the update from command line as I suggested?
At command prompt please run the following:
dism /image:c:\ /get-packages (press enter)
When these have completed.
Right click on the top bar command window
Left click on Edit then Select Alloesnt
Right click on the top bar again
Left click on edit then copy
paste into your reply
Tried this restarting and selecting Safe Mode with Command Prompt but no result. Trying now with regular command prompt to see what happens.
Okay how have you been accessing command prompt? You will need an elevated command prompt to run the update command?

Let’s try to continue to repair. Like you said, let’s leave reset as a last resort. I am performing said tasks from pc but replying on iPad. I cannot do anything internet related from pc as connection is still not active. Hasn’t been since this all started. Tried inputting command in command prompt and got this: Loading Operating System Information ...ERROR: Critical error
Okay, but I am confused. You mention that you cannot do anything from the computer because it shows blackscreen? If you cannot access the internet then about the only option to repair is to download a Windows10.iso and create a USB or DVD to boot from to repair.
