Drag selection cursor jumps down right after 1709 16922 update.

    After the latest update.
When I try to drag select files in a folder that has scroll bar, as soon as I click Ctrl + cursor drag.
My mouse jumps instantly to the down right corner of the screen, selecting everything in the folder.

If you didn't understand what I mean and have windows 1703 or later, try this:
    Make a new folder.
In that folder make a new folder and copy it with (Ctrl + Drag)
Make copies till you see a scroll bar.
Your folder should look like this:

Drag selection cursor jumps down right after 1709 16922 update.-scb.jpg

Now from the first top row, hold Ctrl and try to drag select few folders.

Does your cursor jumps or select normally?

Can't seem to find much about this, found 2 similar issue but no solution.
Not sure what this bug called, it's hard to search, the search engine keep getting me non related results.

    Any way to fix this?

Hi, I selected 4 folders, left click + CTRL drag- no problems.

Have you tried rt click drag and drop - you then get options as to what to do- does your pointer move normally then?

Are you using a wired or wireless mouse? (Mine's wired).

    (Build 16299.251)

Wired mouse, it happens even without holding Ctrl, I can't select anything without my mouse jumps all the way to the corner.

it works fine if there is no scroll bar.

Uninstalled my mouse driver and tried another mouse, same thing.
Here a topic in MS site and video of someone having similar issue.

    Hi, I can't see a problem personally with 7-zip (v17.01 beta, x64) or Winrar (4.10, 32 bit). E.g.

Drag selection cursor jumps down right after 1709 16922 update.-untitled.png

Could depend on the test case or exact version I suppose.

Not really sure myself. must one of the random bugs happens to some and not to the others.
It happens with me whenever there is a scroll bar, on winrar, 7zip etc..

Btw, are you fresh installed "Fall creator", or updated from 1703/1609?
Did you update manually or windows auto update?

Thank you for keeping up with support :)

Upgraded - from 1511 originally via each build.

    Thanks for the information.
I checked for an update and found new update 4074588
And fixed nothing, still having those problems.

Tried to roll back, but can't any longer without reinstalling from ISO -_-
My windows was less broken before the update.

    Any suggestions?

You could do an in-place upgrade repair install, which would also mean you get a new set of drivers. (That keeps all programs and data and most settings). That would take you back to the base build of 1709.

Did the problem appear immediately after you upgraded to 1709 (16299)?
If it did, that won't help of course. And if so it might suggest some odd problem related to a newer version of some low level driver - or even your graphics driver.

The most common issues with drivers seem to arise where a build upgrade also results in receiving an upgraded graphics driver.. occasionally people need to use the older version.

Yes, it appeared right after the 1709 16299 update.

I haven't changed any of my driver after the update nor before it, my graphic is still using the same old driver which I installed manually.
Removed my mouse driver and let windows install one, maybe it would be more compatible, but nothing.
    I'm downloading newer graphic driver.
Are there any other drivers I should mess with?

Also, my Wifi won't auto connect after awaking from sleep, and still using my original driver, also reinstalled the driver and still happening, tho it's 1 out of 10 likely to happens so no big deal.
But the mouse drag issue is so annoying -_-
