    directory name is invalid

    Hi
I have just got this new desktop pc. After an update I am getting this annoying message, E:/ The directory name is invalid. I don't know what I have done. I did anything. I searched Google and found a post on this forum but I can't find the actual answer to the post. Just updated questions. Can someone point me in the right direction please. This is also causing problems when I am trying to type. It is as if the PC is lagging behind what I am typing.

E:/ The directory name is invalid
One important thing I see is that doing file management on the computer requires using the backslash \ as in E:\ or D:\Documents\Colorado County License Plates.txt. The forward slash is commonly used on the Internet in URLs/Addresses.

How do you know you have an E: drive?
You surely have a C: drive. But what is this E: drive?

Go to the yellow folder in your Taskbar (File Explorer) or This PC and look at the drives on your computer. Do you have an E: drive?

    directory name is invalid

    Hi Spunk & margrave55,
Firstly, I should have pointed out that I had an mp3 player connected to a usb port and I believe this is what the message is referring to as drive E: When I connect other equipment via these ports they are usually referred to as drives with a designated letter.

This was a frustrated typo. I am aware of the proper use of the backward slash and it has no bearing on my question.

You still haven't answered the questions. Do you currently. have a drive E:
When do you see the message about the E:\ Drive? Is it when you first start the computer or is it when you are trying to save a file etc.
