When I try opening a program on my laptop...my web browser opens too

The browser then opens a Microsoft site...then opens the same site again and again until I have countless pages open. This causes my computer to overload and eventually shutdown. Help!

You probably have some malware. Try going to safe mode and scan with AV and Malwarebytes Malwarebytes | Free Cyber Security & Anti-Malware Software and ADWcleaner Downloads - AdwCleaner - ToolsLib

I would check your Startup program list as well as the Task Manager.
To see if you can identify anything unusual.
Also, you might want to download RogueKiller and run it.

Note: I suggest that you run RogueKiller while your computer is in Safe Mode.

You can also download and run Autoruns, which will tell you what is starting with Windows and running in the background that you don't need.

I booted in safe mode and ran Roquekiller. I have to say I had to Google it and downloaded the one that was free.....anyway it too found problems and deleted them or changed them. After it was done I tried opening my browser and immediately many windows started opening. Unfortunately all these programs have not found the culprit. ):

Can you tell me a little more on this one? Which category in this print out is the ones I don't need? How do I get rid or delete them? Thanks.

You can try and run the windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, or MSRT for short.

You can run the MSRT manually by typing "MRT", (without quotation marks) into the Run box.
Or, you can find it at C:\Windows\system32\MRT.exe

Seems I have exhausted most of what everyone has suggested so I have taken my PC to a professional for repair. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and help!

Picked-up my laptop yesterday. The charge was $125. The tech had quite a time achieving the repair. It seems during the last Windows 10 update things were written to the wrong location and or somehow screwed up the works in layman's terms. So reflecting back I don't think anyone here could have helped not having my laptop with them. Thanks again! I have a 90 day warranty that if the same thing should happen again they will repair free of charge.
