Windows stuck at blue screen with clock

    Thanks for the pointer I was looking at the desktop tools.
    The health check reports all as OK on every disk.
    The system is on SSD and shows all as OK

    Great- you should be good to go if you're happy doing a clean install, once you've got your iso.

    You still have the option of trying System Restore of course. You could try that- and if no use, you can still clean install.

    Thanks for all your help. I clean install resolved the issue and , having spent most of today downloading and re-installing applications all is well now.

    Good- before you change things, create your first disk image (see previous recommendation). Things can go wrong at any point. Be prepared... so you can hopefully save yourself clean installs by periodically updating your disk image. I maintain a simple log of changes and when I create or update my disk image set... so I can more readily redo things should I have to restore an image.
