    Laptop screen has blue tint

    Hello,

The title says it all. My screen displays all colors but overall it has some sort of blue tint. For example, if I see a black and white photo on my screen you can clearly see it isn't 100% black and white but it also has some kind of blue tint over it.

It's hard to explain but I hope someone can help me fix this. It's really annoying and my eyes are getting tired of it.

Your somewhat sparse "My computer" info says you're running an Nvidia graphics card (probably along with Intel built-in GPU?). You'll want to check color balance for both of those devices to see if you can't adjust it more to your liking. Should that prove impossible, there might be hardware problems somewhere in the CPU to GPU to display screen chain. For your sake, and your pocketbook's sake, I hope you can fix it with a software adjustment. If you'd like to provide more details about your make and model of laptop (and update your My Computer specs, too, won't you please?) we can provide more information to help you get this sorted out.

My two laptops, one Dell one HP, both had this blue cast problem and the HP colour was awful. Reds were closer to brown and yellows were mustard colour.
Trying to make adjustments with Intel Graphics Properties was impossible.
I looked online for ICC profiles which can be used in Windows colour Management ( control panel / colour management ) notebookcheck.net includes profiles in it's reviews. Here is a sample for a Dell E6430s.Laptop screen has blue tint-icc.jpg

I had an issue similar to that and it had to do with the cable the connected the screen to the motherboard. One test to try is if you can get the use of an external monitor (that will bypass the cable and even the screen). If the tint goes away then the GPU is good and the laptop screen or cable is the issue

I'm not really into ICC profiles, but what it means is that when I find the correct profile it could get the right colours on my screens?

I connected the laptop to my tv and it shows the right colours. (black and white photos are now correct, not with that blue tint). (Before this problem my screen had this blue tint for circa 10 seconds, after that it changed to the right colors.)

It's correct on the TV but not on the laptop screen? That is what usually happens.

" ... what it means is that when I find the correct profile it could get the right colours on my screens"

Well the profiles I have used get it near as perfect. Plus a few tweaks of gamma and saturation in Graphics properties to suit personal preference. I use my excellent iphone screen as a guide.

BTW the profile will be for the screen selected in Colour management. It will not affect othe screens i.e. TV.
