PC is almost completely unusable today, is this MS recent bug fix???

It refused to open a new tab in the browser.
It was running way beyond slow.
I managed to power down and it claimed going to install updates.
then on boot said wait while installing, hit4%, then 100%, it barley manages to finally boot.

    Everything is unusably slow now.
Seriously, load a web page and walk away, eventually after about 5 minutes the page displays.

Is this that fix for those 2 serious bugs? If so, this PC is now an unusable piece of crap.
I am typing in on a linux PC, no way I could do this on the affected PC. Yesterday the PC worked fine.

    Cpu is core2duo E6550.

We cannot say without knowing which update it was. What does your 'installed update history' say it was?

ok, I dont notice a very recent update, except adobe flash.

I do notice a reset pc option, is it worth trying? As it is, the pc is worthless.

You're spec.'s say you are running Win7. Is that the case? If so, while we have some very good people here with much knowledge about 7, I would venture to say that you might get faster help for your problem at our sister site sevenforums. Here's a link in case you haven't been there before. Many of us migrated here from there years ago.

Yeah I saw that after I posted. Have you tried a system restore to a point before this happened?

All I use is the MS built in malware that comes preloaded.

    No updates that I did.

No , no word about those yet. Ones been "fixed" for awhile, meltdown, and I have it installed with no problems. Not sure if they've released the Spectre fix yet.
