Is there a way to stop Windows from changing the height of my TaskBar

I keep my Taskbar as high as it will go. However, Windows constantly reduces its' height. Is there a way to keep the height I want it at?

Is this happening after any specific event? For example: Windows Update or changing theme

Does locking the taskbar prevent it from getting resized?

This has always happened (for many years as long as I've used Windows). I have never been able to correlate it happening to any specific action. Sometimes, the Taskbar will not autohide - but I found a small app that allows me to hide the Taskbar with one click when it gets 'stuck.' I'm hoping there's a similar app (or method) that can keep the Taskbar at the height I want it.

Did you try the tutorial Brink pointed you to? I just tried to make sure but unlock it, put it to the height you want , then lock it again. Mine stayed the same even after a reboot. Maybe you have a third party app/program overriding that?

Thanks, Brink - but perhaps you could tell me how to activate the batch files. I know what they are - but have never used them on a PC before. Thanks. I don't have a third party app overriding the Taskbar's location.

No need to use a .bat file if you like. Option One will do the trick to lock the taskbar.

Brink, Option one is what I've been doing, and having a problem with, for many years. I don't know why - but the Taskbar won't lock at the highest setting.. This has been happening with several computers and all versions of Windows. Makes no sense to me. I need a foolproof method of securing the Taskbar in the highest position allowed..

Odd. I suppose you could give the .bat file a try to see if it may lock it, though it's just a different way to set the same setting.

You would just need to double click on the download .bat file to run it.

If you like, post a screenshot showing your taskbar with the settings from Option One showing to see if anything may stand out.

Note: If you enable this setting the user cannot access the taskbar control panel, unlock, resize, move or rearrange items on their taskbar.

Please would you post screenshots of your taskbar in its correct state and in its incorrrect one. I know I'm new to this thread but some statements seem to me to indicate that there is a certain level of misunderstanding.
