Green Checkmarks next to desktop icons on Windows 10

    Green Checkmarks next to desktop icons on Windows 10


    I got a new computer running Windows 10, when I got it, it had these green checkmarks. I don't have Norton so that cant be the problem. Please help.Green Checkmarks next to desktop icons on Windows 10-screenshot-14-.png

    Looks like a glitch in your shortcut icon cache,

    Hello TheSquirrleyNut, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

    If you have OneDrive Files On-Demand turned on and included your desktop folder to sync with OneDrive, then the green checks would indicate to "Always keep on this device".

    If you don't want this, then you could remove your Desktop folder from syncing with OneDrive.

    Turn On or Off OneDrive Files On-Demand in Windows 10 Apps Features Tutorials

    Choose Folders for OneDrive Selective Sync in Windows 10 Apps Features Tutorials

    Yeah, as soon as @Brink posted, I thought I might be barking up the wrong tree cuz I failed to notice your Google Chrome already had the proper shortcut icon!

    I did this and a bunch of my files (pretty much everything) were deleted. i dont know what to do, im trying to re sync things. I had so much important stuff.

    That's ok.

    Open your OneDrive folder, and look in its Desktop folder.

    Your files should be in it to copy over to your %UserProfile%\Desktop folder.

    not everything is in there... i have programs missing too. I am missing almost all of my pics as well, i checked all the folders. More things are appearing, nevermind... hopefully this turns out fine

    If they all don't show up, check your online OneDrive to see if they're still there and haven't synced yet.

    Thanks.... Was going to ask about the checkmarks, too

    Thinking about it... They showed up after I opened my Microsoft account and activated OneDrive
