Windows 10: Error Code ox80073712 Solved

    Error Code ox80073712

I just purchased a new laptop, and when I try to use windows update I get this message.

I tried the sfc scan now and DSIM healthrenew method, but I still get the message. Tried windows troubleshooter for updates, then tried downloading the standalone installer for the missing updates, and they still don't work.

Did a complete restore on the system back to factory settings, and the first thing I did after was try the updates again and got the same message.

How is this even possible if I reset it? Do I have any workaround to this? Thanks.

That is strange how did you restore your computer to its factory settings.

Which option have you selected (keep my file or delete everything) when restoring your computer to its factory settings ?

    Welcome to the Forums greenevening!

A quick search brought me to this about your error code. Straight from the horses mouth (Microsoft). It seems your update files need resetting. Here's a link to MS which tells you step by step how to fix it.

Or, if pressed for time we have many excellent tutorials here at the forums written by some very knowledgeable people, here's one that may help :

    Thanks guys
@freebooter I chose to delete everything.
@indianacarnie I chose the second option and used the .bat file written by brink. After unblocking, running the file, then resetting, I still get the same error message

If it's a new laptop I'm thinking you should take it back and get a new one. You shouldn't have to repair a new laptop.

Thanks for all the help, it turns out the problem was I didn't have the Fall Creators Update Download Windows 10 I had to go and update it manually on this site, then I could do the regular windows update. No idea why it didn't do it automatically, but oh well, I'm just glad it works now. Thanks for the help!
