Inaccessible boot device - after windows update (regular update)

    Hi

I was shutting down the computer and it gave me an option to update and restart and I did that and next think you know I have the blue screen of death. I have tried theauto fix, bottom in safe mode, restoring a previous restore point and still the same issue.

Any ideas of what I can do, again all I did was an automatic windows update, so not sure why it's happened.

Really need to access pc thanks.

I recommend you have a read through this thread to see if any of the suggestions can work for you: Inaccessible Boot Drive after Update?

It's a lengthy thread but you may have an issue common to folks in that thread that got them resolved.

    1) Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums:
System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums Site Use Tutorials
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, etc.)

    2) What is the status of the files:
    a) are they backed up to another drive or to the cloud?
    b) is there a backup image (Macrium, Acronis, etc.)

    3) Do you have an external drive enclosure or the ability to move the drive to another computer?

    4) Have you created a bootable Windows 10 iso?
If you have what troubleshooting steps have already been performed?

Thanks for sending the link, added the specs and info. Really appreciate the help.

I have a number of random software installed and might not have the software since this is an older pc,. I really want to avoid having to to a system repair (where windows reinstalled but files there) from what I understand files are there but all the software has to be installed.

All I did yesterday was click to shutdown and saw update and restart clicked on that, and then it started updating and when I came back it had the error.

When you power on now what do you see?
(error message, error code, icons, rotating dots, color or the background, etc.)
Use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread.

Power on the computer and as soon as you see the Microsoft icon power off.
Repeat again the power on to the Microsoft icon and power off.
Power on again and this time (the third time) allow it to progress and report what is displayed.
Did it ever open the Windows advanced troubleshooting menu?

If not create a bootable windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10

If there are any problems posting images please use one drive or drop box share links.

Please open the website for the computer manufacturer > enter the product or serial number > select the operating system > view available drivers and bios > post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.
