Have look at below registry key values and also expand the key to see if you can found Microsoft Edge subkey.

    Code:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\OpenWithList

SightUp, go to Settings>Apps & Features>Deafault Apps and scroll down past the default apps and click on "Choose default apps by file type". The file types are listed alphabetically, so scroll down until you find .pdf. You should see a + sign with "Choose a default" beside it. Click on "Choose a Default" and all the apps available to open a .pdf file should be listed. Choose the one you want from there, or click on "Look for an app in the Store.

Edit: When I get to .pdf, I can see that I've already chosen Adobe Acrobat Reader DC., so if you see something similar, and that's not what you want, click on it to change the default.

So this is just changing the default. That isn't what I want to do only. I also want to remove the other options that I opened the .pdf with in the past.

Are you saying that once you've defined what you want to open .pdf with, that the "Open With" list isn't gone?

Hmmm, if you haven't already, follow the instructions I gave above, then click/double click on a .pdf file and let us know exactly what happens, please?

When I've done that procedure, I never again get "How do you want to open this?"

I do not think you are following.

Here is the order of events.

I downloaded a .pdf. Without changing the default open with, I opened it. The default is Edge. When you open it for the first time though with Edge, it adds the option to open with menu. I have since change it so that it is FireFox that opens my .pdf files 100% of the time.

My problem is that Edge is still listed and displayed as one of the options if I right click and click open with.

If Firefox opens them 100% of the time, don't right click them anymore!

Seriously though, it may be a hard code, tricky to eliminate.
