    Slow boot & shutdown time

10 doesn't seem to be booting very nicely. What I mean is that it seems to be having a difficult time initilizing my SSD, so upon boot I get a blank black screen for anywhere from 60-180 seconds, where the primary drive activity LED is inactive, before it actually boots. This could be problematic, because I need it to both boot and shut down very quickly since I use my laptop for class; no sleep mode, either, because my system is old and batteries no longer work with my mobo.

    Thoughts on this?

at first it was like this for me as well, maybe not as slow as you, but then after using it throughoutthe day and rebooting and shutting down a few times, it seems to get faster and faster. i think windows 10 just needs to sit awhile and let all the background stuff settle... should improve though.... fastboot is checked on by default

My system is old (7 yrs) but still runs great thanks to the QX9650 and under Windows 7 I was getting around a 30 - 40 second boot time and with Windows 10 it's a about 90 seconds.

What's odd is I get a black screen for about 20 - 30 seconds before the log on screen shows... very annoying.

ok this is how to fix the slow boot up time, goto control panel, computer settings, advance, startup and recovery. change the time to show OS from 30 seconds to 1 sec or 0 sec, and then the bootup time will be much faster!

Tried this already and I still no joy. If I could figure out whats causing the 20 - 30 second black screen I would be content and it seems others are having this same issue when I Google it.
