    Startup fails occasionally

    Hi

On my W10 Medion Erazer PC I sometimes (about every third or fourth start) get a startup failure after
both Restart or Hard Boot, with options to Restart, Advanced Startup options etc.

I have tried the restart and that has not worked so I go to Startup Repairs and the PC starts okay.

How do I find out what caused the failure to restart, I have looked for but not noticed any actions
prior to ShutDown or Restart that repeat.

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers

    Daniel

For the detective work you can check the status of the operating system, the drive file system and the drive:
    1) open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow
    3) dism /online /clean-image /scanhealth
    4) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    6) chkdsk /x /f /r C:
    7) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer. Copy and past the report into notepad > save to desktop > post a one drive or drop box share link into the thread:
Read Chkdsk Log in Event Viewer in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

    8) Run HDTune: http://www.hdtune.com/
    to check the health,
scan for errors, no quick scan but full scan
    run a benchmark.
It may take some time, but please take the time you need to perform it properly.
When above is done please make screenshots of the following
    the health,
    the error scan,
    the benchmark incl. following
    transfer rate,
    access time,
    burst rate,
    cpu usage.

    For the detective work:
If sfc /scannow displays integrity violations or is unable to complete there will be a message to check the CBS log.
If dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth is unable to complete there will be a message to check the DISM log.
If chkdsk /x /f /r finds orphaned files, corruption within the master file table MFT, or volume corruption this will be in the chkdsk report.
If there are problems with the drive they should be evident with the HD tune results.

If all of the above pass the computer logs can be scanned or read to see if there are any reported problems:

    The chkdsk report displayed:

Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.Windows has made corrections to the file system.

The HD Tune SMART and error scan were fine. The benchmark displayed a possible configuration problem. The burst rate is too low. It is something that I recognize based on the numerical values reported however I have not yet troubleshooted or seen another person fix the problem:
