Windows 10: MS Print to PDF not working

I know it's a while ago but I did a test of several 'save as/print to PDF' utilities using the same test document in MS Word.

MS' implementation of PDF as an output format was the second most bloated.

I could see no discernible difference in quality so was at a bit of a loss why the file sizes were so different.

Anyway, as a result of this, I now use Foxit Reader's pseudo-print driver to create PDF's.

    Hope this helps...

That's an interesting comparison. Out of interest, why did you pick Foxit rather than (the smaller) Primo? Is it better in some way?

Unfortunately it was so long ago I cannot remember what decided me against PrimoPDF at the time.

I was familiar with Foxit Reader (and its quirks) in Win 7 so, when I moved to Win 10, reviewed other free PDF readers at the time to see if there were any with more functionality. It was just happenstance that my testing revealed the differences in output file sizes.

Now that Foxit Reader has finally provided the means to stop all online activity I'm quite happy to stick with it and recommend it to others.

    Hope this helps...

Not sure if its related but they blocked me from using their own Reader App to read PDF's, with the last updates. I have to use Edge, or install a non Microsoft App to read them.

Nah - reader has been withdrawn. See this if you want to keep using it. windows - Keep using Microsoft Reader after it has been discontinued - Super User

It was a pdf reader not a pdf printer anyway.

Yeah I know it was just a reader, thats why I said, "Not sure if this is related". Just venting my displeasure with Microsoft's arbitrary "we just decided you can't use this anymore" decisions.
