    Access to new SSD denied

    Hi Group
I have a new 500 GB SSD to replace my current 250 Gb SSD. I cant open up the new drive or do anything with it because "You dont currently have permission to access this folder." I have formatted it and set all permissions. I appreciate your help.

SSD didn't come formatted? ODD I think, I'm suspecting DOA drive electronics.

Check the drive security permissions for the folder to make sure that your user id has access to them. Especially if brought over from another computer or different OS.

If it was DOA, it would not show up. It is a security Permission issue.

The devil is in the detail.

Would putting the drive in a caddy and connecting it as a USB drive allow the volume to be deleted in disk management ? It could then be used as a new 'unallocated' drive or a new volume created by formatting as a new simple volume.
