Music Library "Arrange By" function is empty

    Hello,

I have this weird problem with my music library folder.
When I select any parameter on the "Arrange By" function, it returns that the folder is empty.
The problem is, that I have over 7000 mp3 files in the folder, and it doesn't sort by Album for example.

    How can I fix this?

"When I select any parameter on the "Arrange By" function, it returns that the folder is empty."

Mine works fine when I arrange by Album. You have the same columns in your Music folder that I do but I never use the preview pane. Can't you just sort by clicking the Album column which will put them in alpha order or use the Search box if you're looking for a particular one ? What happens if you do this in the This PC/Music folder vs the Library/Music ?

When I open the folder from This PC, it doesn't show the Arrange By function. So I can't use it there.

The libraries link may be messed up. Try browsing to C:\Users\[UserName]\Music\Songs does the same thing happen?

In this path, the Arrange By function isn't an option.
    So no

Same issue on one of my PCs. Been searching all over the net to try to figure it out. Seems to be impacting WMP too.

    Hi, you might try this:
Restore Default Settings of Library in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
    - but for the Music library of course.

I have 1709, and 'Arrange by' works ok when the Music library is viewed via Libraries, but not otherwise.

Failing that you could try removing and then adding the Music library, using the appropriate tutorial.
(Back up or move the contents first of course).

Recreating the library didn't seem to help, but totally resetting Windows search did. Not just rebuilding the index, but truly resetting it and indexed locations entirely by setting the setupCompletedSucccessfully flag in the registry to 0. Now all the arrangements are working in libraries.

That also seemed to fix Media Player showing no items in its own Music/Videos sections (screenshot below). But unfortunately I'm still having an issue that made me notice the library issues in the first place (cannot cast from this device). I seem to be making progress, but this forum thread isn't the right place for it.
