Xbox Accessories App Stuck While Updating
I got an Xbox One bluetooth controller and a bluetooth adapter for my Windows 10 PC recently. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the controller to work yet.
I tried following the instructions on connecting from here:
Connect Xbox Wireless Controller to Windows PC | Xbox One Accessories
But to no avail. I think I need to update my controller before I use it. So I tried following instructions from here:
How to Update Your Xbox One Controller on Windows 10
The Xbox accessories app (the one the above instructions recommended downloading) shows the controller and an "Update Required" button. This is when the controller is plugged in via USB. Unfortunately when I click the "Update Required" button, I move to another screen with no buttons or way to continue. Here's that screen:
For the record, it says "Let's get ready. Connect one controller with a USB cable. Keep any attached devices connected to the controller."
So I'm not sure what to do here. I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, restarting my computer, and all my drivers/Windows updates seem to be up to date (when I try updating them it says something like already up to date). I'm also worried because I'm trying to install the bluetooth module and the controller at the same time. However, I think they both work individually to some extent. I was able to connect my phone to my computer using the bluetooth module. And when I plug the controller in via USB, it is recognized by Device Manager and I can press the Xbox button to make a gamebar pop up show up.
One problem I haven't investigated would be that my cable is incorrect. I've plugged it in using a USB mini-B connector. Is that the correct kind? It seems to go in fine but the opening looks a little larger somehow. I normally use the cable for my phone.
So any advice? Other things I should try? Anyone have the same problem? How can I file a support bug against Microsoft worst case?
