use a hard drive with xbox

Hi to all again,,What I would like to know is possible to connect my xbox to a hard drive that is connected to the xbox, to copy the game onto the hard drive and run the game from that instead of having to put the dvd in the xbox every time I want to play it.
I have already formatted the hard drive (which is 1Tbyte) to a external storage which is for games and apps I believe, but I just need to now is it possible and how to do it, then I can leave the dvd in its box.
    Any help please

You can only store code - you can't copy the disk itself to the drive..

The only games that I have on my external SSD are those that I have downloaded in their entirety
as such, they have their start instructions automatically included in the download..
If a disk is required at start-up, I store them on the console for speed and convenience during start-up

    - I don't think what you're asking is possible, as it would involve hacking the game's start-up procedure from the disk..
