Wow... I assume this affects decoding and programs that rely on DX11 rendering as well.
This only means, not FCU for me... skipping this version entirely.

    Way to go MS...
Yeah, because the OP's issue is a huge indicator of issues to follow

I guess it wouldn't help to know there are many many more users here without issues would there?

A little news on my issue. Went back to an older graphic driver, and now I can clear the issue with black screen without reinstall directx after every reboot. Some games still starts with black screen, but now I can tap on the monitors "sync-rate" button, to go from 144 to 60 hz, then the picture is on, I then tap a coupple of times again, and now the game is showing picture in 144hz mode, just as the monitor was in when the game started. Is this giving any info to where to look for the error?
This I have to do every time I start one of the faulty games.

Graphics driver. What version are you running? 378.92?

Roll back to a previous version.

The Fall update has gone to WDDM 2.3 and historically it takes a few drivers/KB updates to sort these these things out.

It was 387.92 when I made OP. Now it is 365.89, which seems to be better for my PC.

    Same for me

Same thing is happening to me as far as black screen after FCU update. Only Time Spy works in 3DMark (DirectX 12). The directx 11 Fire Strike gives me a black screen with sound.

I changed my setup to Discrete and out of MSHYBRID, and it works now. Guess it must be the intel drivers.

OK, Ok... I get it... the links partially made me paranoid.

Just a question... seems this is affecting people with discrete setups where there is an integrated VGA too? (Like, having an integrated Intel, with an Nvidia VGA) Does this affect systems with APUs, for example?.

Sorry to sound a bit overreacting XD... but needing a system to work and not to trubleshoot is a must for me nowadays... I miss those days where I had the time to deal or just plain test stuff XD

I'm not sure this is a DX issue per se where the FCU caused it. The OP's reply certainly indicates so....

This I have to do every time I start one of the faulty games.

Anyway I myself have no such issues. In fact I played about an hour of Dragon Age: Inquisition last night without issue. I've also tested Origin based games like Dragon Age, and Steam based games like Deus EX: Mankind Divided, Skyrim, and Fallout New Vegas.

I will however point out one weird issue and that's that I had to reinstall all my Origin based games after the FCU. BUT.... there was also an Origin app update that could have caused the need for a reinstall of games. So....

Got a new 388.00 WHQL driver today for Nvidia. That did not solve my issue.

I have a different error (DX11 could not switch resolution) but it basically the same result.
I have tried everything (older driver, reinstall DirectX / games, etc..) also the newest 388.00 WHQL but it did not help

I tried to create a new Windows profile, and start the game with that, and then game starts ONCE. For the second start attempt it gives "Couldn't switch to requested monitor resolution" error.

Creators Fall and DirectX ... new version??-error.jpg

Note: It affect DX11 games only which cannot be forced to run in DX9 mode (old DX9 games are fine)

Does anyone have any idea how ro resolve this Fall Creators update / Nvidia incompatibility issue?
