Creators Fall and DirectX ... new version??

    Greetings.
After Creator Fall is installed some (but not all??) dx11 games starts with a black monitor. ctrl+alt+del to start task manager and kill the game. Reboot does not help. reinstall the game does not help, uninstall graphic driver (and reinstall of course) does not help.

But reinstall the directX version from "Project Car 2", do fix it!!! Then every game works fine, undtil next reboot. Then the same games starts with a blank monitor.

Is this a problem that can be solved with a clean install? Or any other ideas? :)

I don't do gaming, but here is something very similar on the Steam Forum. Take a quick look:

Yes, the error i your link loos a lot like mine, but not exactly. When I alt tab to desktop the game window is still just a black square, but yes, the game is still running. I will try to see if this fixes it

Well... seems latest stable drivers have a lot of issues (specially VGAs), try to revert to an older version and see if the games go back to normal, if not, your best bet is trying betas to see if the issues are fixed.

AMD cards have a similar issue, but seems they are working on them in the beta drivers.

Saw something in Feedback that may help. Disable your on-board graphics (Intel HD something?) and just run the NVidia.

DirectX doesn't seem to be the problem, but rather a GPU driver issue. BTW I just finished playing around with both Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Fallout: New Vegas and had no issues. I'm running a AMD R9 Fury card using the latest Crimson drivers - the same ones before the FCU update.

Anyway try looking at your GPU drivers.

Edit to say these are Steam based games. Next try is some Origin games like Dragon Age, and Mass Effect. Will post any errors.

    Onboard is disabled in BIOS.

Driver for Nvidia is the same as before FCU. FCU must have made "something" to directx, as the error is completely gone when installing the directX version from the "Project Car 2" install-dir. Not just PC2 is working, but all my dx 11 games. Until reboot.

I don't have the Alien game mentioned in #1 link. I'm trying to look for the same for F1 2016, but without finding these files. So I can't test it this way.

I guess I have to either revert back to before FCU, or reinstall directx every time I want to play a game

You don't need to reinstall DirectX every time you want to play a game unless you choose to do so

What you can do is run this and all should be good - DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

I have now tried your version #8, and it is the same. It works until reboot, and then the games won't show graphic again. If I then reinstall from your link, everything works until next reboot. So it does not solve it anymore than the version from Project Cars 2.

Wow... I assume this affects decoding and programs that rely on DX11 rendering as well.
This only means, not FCU for me... skipping this version entirely.

    Way to go MS...
