    Dude said:
When you used DDU and tried other drivers did you sect just the driver and physx on re-install? Then try setting the system power and GPU to high performance
I uninstalled everything, then did a full clean installation. I did that today again also. It crashed again, with the same Application Error and NVIDIA OpenGL driver, but the NVidia opengl driver had a different description of

"The description for Event ID 1 from source NVIDIA OpenGL Driver cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

    A TDR has been detected.
    The application must close.

    Error code: 7"

Firefox also isn't working properly, it sometimes just resorts to showing a completely blank screen. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, as edge works even if firefox crashes.

When you said you did a full clean installation, did you use express settings? If so, why not try something different? Uninstall all Nvidia drivers making sure to uninstall the Graphics driver last. Boot into safe mode and run DDU again. Reboot and install the new driver, but this time do a custom install and uncheck everything except the Graphics Driver and PhysX driver. Make sure the "Clean Install Box is checked. It should look like this.

See if that works any better.

I may also suggest you go into BIOS, look at your SATA controller and see what mode it is set to (IDE, AHCI or Raid). Set Optimized Defaults (F5 on most boards), Go back and make sure your SATA Controller is set to what it was when you checked it a minute ago. Change nothing else, save and exit.

Also, have you received any error notifications such as the graphics driver died and did not respond within the allotted time?

Much of what you describe is happening sounds more like a problem with the game itself instead of the GPU drivers, or it sounds like system instability in general. App crashes like the games and Firefox can occur because the system is unstable. Just a possibility not a diagnosis.

Reinstalling Java might fix Minecraft, but it won't help with GTAV, since it doesn't use Java. And don't just blindly follow the advice about changing disk modes in the BIOS (AHCI, RAID, SATA, IDE), it's a good way to get a BSOD, which is difficult to fix. Windows installs according to what mode is already set in the BIOS, if you later change it from say IDE to AHCI then Windows probably won't boot. @essenbe should have warned about that.

Yes I did a clean installation, but left all the boxes ticked. I did what you said, unticked every box except graphics driver and physx. Today I got another crash on minecraft, in the form of my whole monitor turned light blue. I tried to capture it with snipping tool/print screen, but it just captured the desktop beneath the blue screen. Force closing minecraft (the java processes which is minecraft) got rid of the blue screen. I have had this before, so it is not the first time this has happened, evidently it still crashes. GTAV also still crashes in the same way as before.

Do you have a way to verify the game files?

Also please go into bios, check your sata mode (IDE, AHCI or Raid). See which it is. Next please set Optimized Defaults (F5 on most boards), go back and make sure the sata mode is the same as it was when you checked it. Save and exit. Change nothing else.

I replaced the RAM in my computer and the games haven't crashed for 8 hours of game time now. Success so far!
