PAYDAY 2 --- FREE on Steam---- (08 June 2017)

That's why it's called DLC not update. Update is usually to fix bugs and improve user experience. DLC is an optional new game pack if you finished and got bored of the old game. You are not forced to buy it.
I have trouble complaining about free. That's my favorite price.

I complain a lot, with almost each free steam game, I have to download it and run it for about 2 hours to get card drops. Payday 2 takes 17 GB. So much time and effort wasted just to get one small badge.

My thoughts exactly.
Geeks, I have never played any other games than simulations that at least on some level challenge you to think (Sim City, Cities Skylines, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon etc.), simply because I have never understood how killing could be fun even when done virtually.
Anyway, as this game is / was free I got it and decided to try it in my efforts to try to understand what makes it so fun. I have no joystick, no gaming mouse and keyboard, but the game seems to run OK on my laptop. However, I just can't get started; I can put mask on, then move to fence but nothing I do will cut the fence.
How to proceed, how do I start and what is the objective of the game? Kill everyone who moves? Am I the bad guy or the good guy?
Any advice and instructions for a complete gaming newbie appreciated.

Not started this games as yet. Once I am done with Prey 2017 I will look at uploading just a few videos.

Just one piece of advice to get started: how do I cut the fence?

I haven't gone far with the game myself. But usually the instructions are displayed on the screen. Like to put on mask "Hold G" and to cut the fence it says "Hold F".
Have fun Kari. :)

I hate walkthroughs. What's the idea with them? You watch a video walkthrough, pause it every now and then replicate what was shown without thinking, then when finished post "I played it through!".
It's like alcohol free beer, not even close to real taste. Or like asking someone else to play it for you, then brag about how fast "you" did it.

"Hold F", I have to try. I thought I had tried all key combos.

You only watch what you need to watch to get you through where you are stuck.... that is all.

As worf105 says, you only watch them when you're stuck.
I use walkthroughs to learn something new about the world I'm playing in, saving a lot of time with it :)
