    Assassin's Creed Rogue crashes randomly

    Windows Build 10041

I've been playing Assassin's Creed Rogue for several days with no issues until recently; I'm in New York city. What happens is I'll be running to a loot item and spamming the E key to interact with the item. 99% of the time there are no issues but four times, the game has crashed.

What happens is that the game world is still visible but I'm only able to look around and draw my weapons & sheath them. I'm unable to Alt-Tab out of the game or use Ctrl-Alt-Del. The only thing I can do to resolve this issue is to manually power cycle my PC.

The first three times I did this the PC started up just fine but the fourth time, there was some corruption. The PC automatically restarted a few times, showing Diagnostic pages and pages about about collecting information to send to Microsoft when a restart was failing. I did notice a message about NTFS failing.

I tried a System Restore but but it said that there were no restore points which is WRONG! I created a few days ago. I tried to do a Refresh but it immediately failed with no explanation why! I had to do a reset.

I was having a lot of gaming issues on 10041, especially with Ubisoft games. Try upgrading to 10049 and see if it's any better. I've been playing Rogue for the last few days since upgrading with no issues.

I should have mentioned that I could initially only play ACR on build 10049. After the 4th crash, as I mentioned, I had to Reset my PC which brought it back to 10041. Windows automatically installed the nvidia graphics driver: 349.90.

I upgraded to 10049. I continued playing for while before the game froze again, this time after a cutscene finished. After waiting a few minutes and restarting my PC, I could play again but for ~15-30 minutes before another crash; the crashes are occurring more frequently now.

I'm wondering if it's Windows and/or the Win10 specific graphics driver?

It could be the driver. I'm using the 347.88 Win8 driver and not having any issues. Maybe give that a try?
