    Xbox on Alienware 17 laptop?

I recently bought an Alienware 17" laptop. It came with Windows 10, and an Xbox controller. One of the first things I did was remove as much of the unnecessary app "stuff" as possible. Including the xbox stuff as far as I know.

I'm now curious to try at least a few games (Doom, for example) on the laptop.

Am I actually ABLE to play "xbox" games ON the laptop or does it require an additional xbox console?
If I AM able to do so, WHAT do I have to do to get the xbox software back on the laptop, and HOW do I use it? I"ve been searching for a couple days, and I have YET to find a straight answer as to what this thing does, how it works, and how to actually USE it...

If NOT, can I install the PC version and use the xbox controller or is the thing just a paperweight?

You cannot play Xbox games on a PC natively, you need to install the game you want to play which means it needs to be the PC version, most games support controllers nowadays and it couldn't be simpler, the xbox app exists to record gameplay footage and stay in contact with friends on consoles and PCs, you can stream your xbox one using the xbox app but that's the best you can do, as far as getting the app back, i'm not sure, never deleted it before so, it's not necessary unless a game requires it (UWP games probably), your best bet is steam as it has a vast library at reasonable prices, but it's all digital content so you need to have a good internet connection or a lot of patience.

    windows 10 upgrade

Its funny but it seems some argue that a Virtual Machine is not an Emulator. You would think though that really if the computer is new enough it would technically just need to be able to decrypt the game files and run them in a windows environment. ps4, xbox its all amd.

    Thanks for the replies...

It sounds like I don't need the xbox app at all. I just bought the new Doom and thought if it really COULD magically play the xbox version I'd go that way. Instead it sounds like I can install the normal PC version and use the xbox gamepad that came with the laptop to play it, right?

The XBOX App will let you stream a game from your XBOX One so you can play it on your PC. I've done it. If you don't own an XBOX One, the XBOX App won't do much for you in that regards. Other than that, you can't play XBOX games on a PC, unless there is a PC version of the same game.

The XBOX controller is also PC compatible. I can connect mine to my PC via USB cable and use it on my PC. I can use it in any game I play on my PC. I think you can also buy a wireless dongle for it and use it wirelessly on your PC like you do on the XBOX.
