    Do I care ? No, I don't because I don't own an Xbox.

In Canada, Xbox costs more that $300 except once awhile sales promo. More like $400 and up.
For that price tag, I can get a very decent computer.

I am not sure about the "security" aspect using Xbox as a computer. You play a lot of online games with other gamers. Yes ?
    Hi there.

for about 400 USD I can get TWO decent HP Microservers !!! -- If I want streaming / networking / file serving - much better idea, much more flexible and actually more power efficient.

An X-Box is really an "Overgrown" kiddies toy for people who have never made it out of adolesence. If you want to play games - there's much better platforms to do it on.

If you really want proper networking etc an Enterprise quality system at a bargain basement price IMO is far better than a piece of not even high end consumer hardware which is aging quite rapidly.

A lot of online gaming can be done via STEAM on all sorts of platforms -- why bother with an XBOX these days -- should be called a WHY-BOX.

If you have one OK but I wouldn't recommend anybody to go out and buy one these days.

    Cheers

I find that comment rather insulting to be honest. I'm 58 and I like to game, on my PC and on my XBOX. Lots of people my age still game on PC's etc. I suppose its easy to make random comments on something you don't know anything about. If it's not for you it's not for you. Is there a real need to resort to those types of insulting derogatory comments though? You seem to have a very low opinion about those that don't share your specific interests?

The fit and finish is, IMHO excellent. And it has quality parts inside. It's not that old either. The XBOX ONE was released in May 2013.

I just hooked up my IR blaster. Now when I turn on my XBOX it turns on my TV and cable box for me and goes right to live TV. A couple of button presses on the remote and I'm gaming, or playing media, or browsing the internet. turn it off and it turns the TV and cable box off with it. It does many things and suits my Interests. It has flaws, I've already mentioned them here and in other threads. It has advantages too, for some people.

Your not alone. I'm 60 and still play games on my PC. My wife is 58 and games are the main thing she uses her laptop for. I recently started playing Kings Quest on Steam. I am also about 3/4 of the way through a hidden object game I got from the bargain game section at Walmart. If it hadn't died I would still be playing games on my Colecovision.

I get that the XBOX is not for everyone. And that a fair number of people have no interest in gaming. That's fine, I'm not trying to force it on anybody. But why insult a whole group of people just to get your point across? Every bodies entitled to their opinion but that was just downright disrespectful, IMHO. He likely won't reply or ever post again in this thread. Not if he follows his drive by post MO. I don't think he actually read any of the posts in the thread. He just replied based on the title.

I've been PC gaming and console gaming since they first showed up on the scene. I had an Atari 800XL then an Intelivision. Then numerous PC's. I got away from console gaming for a while. I'm a big HALO fan and can only play Halo CE and HALO 2 on the PC. To play the rest the only option is XBOX. I used my income tax refund to buy it. Doing other things on it is just a bonus. In the old days, what you bought was what you bought. There was no updating the software. I'm looking forward to updates and added features. More Apps in the XBOX App store would be nice too. Buying games digitally online is nice too. Especially when you can't find that game on a shelf in a retail store locally.
    Anyway, game on.

The Atari 800XL was my first computer. I started with one 5 1/4 drive then upgraded to two. I tried the tape drive but it was more hassle than worth. My first printer used tiny ink pens. I was playing L.A. Noire (disk version not Steam) until I did a computer upgrade and didn't get around to installing it. If I remember correctly there is a update so it works in Windows 10. The USB joystick I had wouldn't work so I had to get a XBox joy stick. Works great on L.A. Noire and Kings Quest. I don't know why the USB joystick wouldn't work. I agree, Game On! :)

I had the 5 1/4 disk drive. Tape drive too, didn't use it much though. I play FSP primarily, Halo, Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, Dishonored. An occasional game of Risk, I have that for the XBOX now. Played a lot of Myst years ago. I'll be looking for the new sequel to Dishonored for the XBOX. I'm used to the game controller now. On the PC it was keyboard trackball. I may start using the XBOX controller there too. I think I have to if I stream a game from my XBOX to PC. I just haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

I worked my way up through the entire Sinclair range..
from the wee ZX81 with it's RAM packs, thru Spectrums 64K and 128K - right up to the +3 with it's disk system..
I also have two or three old QL's in my loft - with a half dozen microdrives as well..

Didn't get into PC's proper until Win98 appeared..
my children have had all manner of consoles over the years
..now there are 4 Playstation4's in the house!!

    - but I've just stuck with the PC

I didn't want to go with the Sony stuff, so the Xbox One is my first and only console..
I've stuck with MS up 'til now, and- as far as I'm concerned, it's a delightful box of tricks..

..and I'm really loving the way all this stuff inter-connects..

I have Sky Rim The Elder Scrolls V but I haven't installed it yet. Even though gaming can get frustrating at times it always seems to help me relax. :)
