Different strokes for different folks, nothing wrong with that. I purchased my XBOX primarily to game on. Anything else it does is just a bonus.

True - your right it will be a nice bonus. It wouldn't make me buy one specifically. If MS do it right then it will be good. I just don't like Windows 10 too much because there are quite a few issues and I see all the new extras such as this as distracting them from fixing bugs.

Microsoft calls what is on the XBOX Windows 10, but its not the same as what you see on a PC running Windows 10. I don't have a Windows 10 phone but my guess is its more like Windows 10 Mobile than 10 for the PC. There is no start menu, just a screen with tiles on it. No file explorer, control panel etc. There are settings, but its nothing like the settings in Windows 10 on the PC. You have Edge for internet, and the XBOX store to buy Apps or Games with digital downloads. Windows 10 IoT is even worse. It bares almost no resemblance to Windows 10. IMHO its a stretch to even call it Windows. I ran it briefly on my Raspberry PI, but lost interest with it very quickly.

    Hi there

Have I just woken up from a 100 year old slumber -- but what's an Xbox -- is it some old artifact found in an unshown episode of "The X-Files" !.

A computer is a computer, a tablet is a tablet and a phone is a phone -- all these gadgets either individually or in combination can do anything that needs online access or to be able to act as servers - so what's the point of yet another (IMO Idiotic) piece of kit.

Of course YMMV -- just my view though.

    Cheers

For me, I give this move a big I just recently bought one, so any improvements are welcomed. It already has the Edge Browser. And a somewhat limited Store. More Apps, especially if they are ones I already run on my PC, the better.

With the XBOX Glass App I can access my XBOX from my PC. It's like remote desktop. I can play my XBOX games on my PC through it. I haven't actually tried to do that yet. I haven't found a need to. Once the weather gets nice and I take my laptop out on my deck I can see trying it out. Or watching TV on my laptop streamed from my XBOX via One Guide. My cable box feeds through my XBOX to my TV.

One thing I really want to see is the option for local storage of my media files on the XBOX internal hard drive. I have to use a USB thumb drive etc to do it now. Or stream it from some other device over my network. I'd rather just play it right from the XBOX.

Anyway, the more PC like they make it the better, IMHO.

And a game console is a game console. http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one?xr=shellnav If you don't have a use for it, you don't have a use for it. I do.

I could stream it from another source. I don't have enough storage space available in OneDrive, but I could stream it from my PC I guess. I'd just rather play it right from my XBOX, it has a 1TB hard drive in it. Apparently you can do it on an XBOX 360, just not the XBOX ONE. I hope that changes though.

It's a interesting things to see (like Continnum on Phones), being abble to get access to things on other devices with a similar look/feel

Not sure if its something i would currently use if i had the One, I prefer a device optimized for the function it was intended, not try and do everything
To me, Xbox is a device for games

I bought it primarily for gaming. I have been playing around with its other features. I have an IR blaster on the way. Once I plug that in I can setup the XBOX to turn my TV on when I turn my XBOX on. And turn my cable box on too if I want. The cable box HDMI feeds into the XBOX so I can watch TV on the XBOX. In theory I can change channels on the cable box, and adjust the volume on the TV, all with the XBOX remote control. I'll see how that works when the IR blaster arrives. I have the XBOX Glass App installed on my PC. With that I can play my XBOX games on my PC. I haven't actually tried it yet though. It's on my to do list. I've posted here from my XBOX with Edge. It's a bit of a pain using the onscreen keyboard though, but it's doable. I would think it's no worse than doing it from a smart phone. I'm still feeling out all the features on it.

TV through the One is something i am interested in, not sure how it works with subscription over here (Cable/Satelite) but i know you can get a free to air terrerstrial tuner for it (100 or so channels) and record them

Just need my 360 to break , then i have a valid reason to upgrade the the One
