This thread was meant to discuss the possibility of running Windows on PS4, not for bullsh*t philosophers. It should be possible, if anyone could crack Sony's hardware restrictions and boot loader. Anyway, there is no match to a true gamer PC. It would only be nice if you could run both PS4 games and PC games. I would prefer a powerful gamer PC that can emulate PS4 games. Anyone knows of a working emulator (not scums) ?

for the possibility, it already exists, if the ps4 can run linux, run the pcem emulator, tadaaaaa, then you can run windows on the ps4, but the speed might make you disappointed

maybe with a photonic chip processor all your wishes can come true,

Don't talk about the economy either when you talk about emulators, ok dude

Running a virtual machine inside Linux and get half the performance? Very clever... No thanks. I prefer a PS4 emulator to play both PS4 games and Windows games on a gaming PC running Windows 10 or 11. Don't laugh if you don't know. If you Google, you will find out that there is an emulator for any old game console and home computer, including the original PlayStation, PS2 and PS3. Last time I checked, there was a "PS4 emulator", but it was scum. That's why I asked if anyone knows of anything new that really works, at least for some PS4 games. Of course it would take a really fast gaming PC to be playable, but assuming one has that, is there any working PS4 emulator? Thanks.

Every system nowadays are all similar to make programming more easy for everybody. It would be ten times more better to run PS1-PS5 on your PC desktop with an up to date graphics card and GPU. Within the next ten or twenty years even your phone could run all of these games so why waste the effort.

Back in college when I was in programming 101 their was this gal programming student ( who has a job and feels it is boring ) and she basically wanted to program the PS3 to run as a computer operating system or server. I told her that people did that with the Dreamcast already and PS2 so honestly right now I could run a PS3 on my computers right now ( right now ) .

Same with X-box people literally installed Windows XP ( or was it 2000 ) on the actual X-box but then again flash foward somebody installed Windows 98 on a PSP. So maybe you can make it so but honestly it is not worth it. Your PS4 would be under powered most likely.

    Your welcome to try

That's why it's not worth it to install a virtual machine on a console and on that run Windows. IT will be slow as hell. The best would be if PS4 would natively run Windows 10 or 11. The CPU and GPU is a variant of AMD (x86-64 compatible), so this is not as crazy as it sounds. The next best thing is to run PS4 on a PC, but it would take a really fast PC to run over 10fps and be playable. The point is to actually play the games, not just load the first screen and crash or crawl...

Okay here is the big nutcracker. It has already been done.

The Dreamcast was able to run as server and emulate games from other consoles, so was the Saturn as well.
The PSP can run Windows 98 and maybe even XP,
    Same with the original X-box

    Now again with this conversation.

You might be able to make an install via loading the OS as a disc image on the PS4 but as for accessing the full potential of the system is one big forget about it.. You should not even think about it. You should be looking to run PS4 games on a PC.

I know that feeling you have. I had it before. I remember thinking "How great these graphics are" but in reality it is a bad joke.
In another 10 to 20 years all these games will fit on to an SD card and you will be asking "Can this phone run this game". Trust me it is a bad joke.

I already run most emulators on my phone, even an Amiga emulator, but it is not easy to play with touch.

    1. All current phones are literally no different then computers. Current day internet focuses on using Java-script since Symbian OS or whatever earlier small display mobile and cell phones. Almost all programming via networking ( like HTML5 being used over FLASH ) are all Java, Javascript. Java is really C and nowadays C++ for the internet and loads over any computer that has the correct Java runtime installed.

You can get an USB adapter for your mini/micro/usb-c mini area and have the power run outside and plug whatever devices in via the USB while powered up. You could even experiment with the USB adapter hub with a plug in to power higher end USB devices and plug in a bunch of power hungry devices.

NOTE: These adapters are cheap and easy to break

Even tablets ( which are just big smart phones ) you could plug into adapters. The ipad has ones that even have HDMi plugs. Evens the PSP has official and unofficial peripherals to plug into AV and HDMI.

    Meaning you could plug in

    A. Mouse / Keyboard wireless combo like the Logitech I am using right now, where only the dongle is being used.
    B. You could plug in a wired or wireless via dongle Controller and #$$@#$! Bluetooth delayed rubbish.
    C. You could even get a Wii remote to work on it if setup correctly.
    D. Printer, etc.

    2. A guy who went to the engineering school of Australia made it big with the apple game controller for a while. It was a wii type device that you put over your apple phone and could play games with buttons instead of screen. Nowadays people are making all kinds of controller add ons for phone.

    3. You could literally ( I am not kidding you ) replace all your desktop needs with a single phone and some adapters. You do not need labtops, at all. I could clear my space of the towers I have to labtops and have a row of phones.

    4. That being said as with Labtops running with external hard drive adapters we could do the same thing with a phone via Ethernet adapter or even a wireless connection if possible.

    A. connect via ethernet to GPU plugged into external PSU.
    B. connect via usb to GPU plugged into external PSU.
    C. connect to a server or computer wirelessly to execute the code using the
servers GPU and start a video feed on to the game being played ( which is how Google's crappy Stadia should work but does not )

    5. All these phones are using is Linux, Android, iOS, and Unix where you literally could filter/block/blacklist the internet no different then a computer. You could make a phone child friendly without using an list app.

    6. Phones are that powerful. People are buying them from $20 to $2000 and does things the computers no differently.

If a phone can run a Gamecube game it is not that far behind in running any other console.
If I can run PS2 or even Saturn games ( which was hard to do previously ) nowadays on my computer using Pentium II with a powerful GPU then I am not that far from running a PS4. I am already running WiiU and 360 games with speed errors. Most switch games requires a certain amount of ram and SSD functionality.

    ..............

Think I am kidding browse this website you find all kinds of information that shows what I am talking about.

I was once you. I was a fanboy. Honest to gosh I still buy physical games from time to time. Otherwise everything is able to be "Virtualized" without official hardware.

My third generation Intel core i3 and entry level 1GB graphics card plays PS2 games, but not PS3 games. I would not dare try playing PS4 games, it would be a disappointment. Regarding my mobile, if I connect it wirelessly to my TV by Miracast and then connect a keyboard/mouse set using an OTG adapter, I can play most old consoles games, but playing on a computer is easier and faster.

If you wanted to run any operating system.
    1. You need drivers installed, even if it was the generic base drivers to be loaded.
    2. Because this is a game console it would load from the specific file type, efi, pkg, iso, disc, etc.
    3. To take advantage of the GPU and display those drivers would need to be made as well including
    drivers for all i.o devices.

Like I mentioned before people have done this before.

    .........

Think about your computer like your body/temple. You have to give it respect. For example I am running a lot of games on my Intel Core II Duo ( Sad part I had a double of the same machine and tossed it out. I could have brought another board and mount both processors and have double the power I have now. r-tard me ) using a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti. The Board is underpowered for the GPU Card. Meaning if I update the board ( which I tried to move to an i7 but was unable to ) I would get loads more GPU power plus extra power. I can Max out the socket ( which is an LGA 775 ) or get a new board with newer socket and amazingly save more money.

Then again you have to think about the consumer shelf life and how long it would even matter to update. I am running at least WiiU games on that machine smoothly but due to the drive not being SSD I am unable to Switch games. I might see a jerk here and there but it still works, looks, and run smooth.

That being said PC games ( or anything ) that does not support the type of CPU I have to run on my i7 machine ( which is my laptop ) which is for work. However it does not have a GPU like the 750 Ti. but K1000 instead however the processing power is way ( extreme ) more powerful then the other machine, so it can do more in various areas. Like boot Unity games that will not respond to that processor ( even if UDK 3 still runs on both ). Now with Switch games I can run great on the i7 but something that used Unity ( "Ocean Horn" ), or Game maker converted ( AM2SR / "Another Metroid 2 Remake" ) takes a load of processing power to boot unlike something like "Metroid Dread" which is probably using low-level programming and runs in 2.5D for the most part.

    About PS2 titles ???

Pentium II can load okay with some slow down only because of the GPU.
i7 can load okay but many slowdowns only because the GPU is not as powerful but still works.

    .............................

The point I am making you could max out your computer, sell the parts you do not need or want, every five years and enjoy that instead of saying the same thing people said about etc game system.
