What Games are you playing right now?

I ran the GOW4 benchmark. The data on the left is game mode off. on the right game mode on. Win + G brings up the game bar in this game so I guess it works.

The data is close but a bit up and down on the game mode (right) side. GOW4 runs beautifully at 1080P Ultra with this hardware. So I will say I understand the concept that if the hardware doesn't really need help, game mode won't do much.

Most important to me, however, is minimum in game FPS; more important than top or average numbers. I do see that with game mode on, average minimum FPS are 119.6, over 4 FPS higher than the 115.2 with game mode off. For a guy who likes to game at 1080P Ultra with a refresh rate of 120HZ, I'll take that 119.6 minimum and say thanks for game mode.

Ya, you're at 625MV, exactly where you should be. These things are so weird. I've seen different brands of Pascal reporting the issue, EVGA, Asus.... I've seen it reported on 1060's, 1070's and 1080's. Maybe it's affecting certain MB's but it wasn't doing it for me with previous drivers.

I'm going to blame Solarstarshines, Worf and essenbe. My theory is Nvidia is only thinking of them and optimizing drivers for the 1080 TI which, ya, probably needs MORE POWER.

OK I'll go with that. Let's blame the 1080 TI guys for everything that happens to us the next couple of months. It probably won't change the well deserved smiles on their faces no matter what we blame them for.

My GOW4 game mode comparison above was wrong. Game Mode wasn't working on either runs. Maybe I had to restart the game but in the comparisons below game mode is on or off (checked and ran benchmarks twice).

GOW4 the benchmark numbers are worse with game mode on, especially that important minimum FPS number which is 8 FPS lower with game mode on, 116.7 with game mode off and 108.4 with game mode on. Game mode on are the numbers on the right.



ROTTR DX12, game mode on numbers on the right, benchmark has 3 parts. Game mode on ran better on a couple, especially that minimum FPS. The overall score 91.73 is just about identical to game mode off 91.25.



Verdict:

A) A bit better
B) No difference
C) Worse on my PC hardware, maybe good for other PC systems or Xbox gamers

The jury is still out.
