Yeah, for some reason it finally started working in AC4: Black Flag last night, just in time for me to finish the game. Didn't help much, though, as I still had drops into the teens at times.

I wish they would deliver an in game OSD with game mode. That would get a lot of PC gamer positive comments, I would think.

Actually these things are simply beyond my comprehension. It affected some Pascals, not others. How could I have the issue but not Blackrose who is also running 1080 FTW's. Unless Nvidia Inspector (which I don't use) stopped it from happening for him. Seems this driver fixed the voltage issue for the EVGA mod as well.

Nvidia must know exactly what the issue was. They fixed it PDQ.

GOW4 the benchmark numbers are worse with game mode on, especially that important minimum FPS number which is 8 FPS lower with game mode on, 116.7 with game mode off and 108.4 with game mode on. Game mode on are the numbers on the right.

ROTTR DX12, game mode on numbers on the right, benchmark has 3 parts. Game mode on ran better on a couple, especially that minimum FPS. The overall score 91.73 is just about identical to game mode off 91.25.

Verdict:

A) A bit better
B) No difference
C) Worse on my PC hardware, maybe good for other PC systems or Xbox gamers

The jury is still out.

In all honesty i don't think rigs like ours will benifit at all from game mode , i think its more for low end towers and laptops to squeeze a few extra fps out of games where they are already struggling. And maybe those windows users who install app after app and never edit their startup folder , you know like when you visit your mum fire up her laptop and sit for half an hour waiting for all the icons to load down the right hand side (then sort everything out for her only to go back a week later and it be exactly the same ) my mum would benifit from game mode

That may be the case, Archie, but my thought is the "additional" prioritizing of both GPU and CPU resources for the game can only be a good thing.

The biggest benefit from Game Mode for me so far is that I no longer have to set GTAV.exe's priority to high manually after I launch the game to eliminate stutters. That was such a PITA.

i play WoW for the horde! lol

Understood. I'm still playing with it. It does seem to work in every game I tried so far (WD2, Call of Duty IW, GTAV, ROTTR, Sniper Elite 4, Witcher 3, BF1) except for Doom (Vulcan).
