My new ROTTR and GOW4 benchmarks with the new NVidia driver 378.78.

On ROTTR I went from overall 91.78 on the previous driver down to 91.70 with 378.78. Basically the same.

On GOW4 much more significant (DOWNWARD) numbers with the same settings as before. I went from 154.7 average GPU framerate to 151.2. I went from 122.6 average minimum framerate to 114.2.

    Now that's (378.78) what I call a performance driver

Oh Nvidia? Oh. look at this. You have to (well Nvidia does) compare the 378.78 driver to the game release drivers to see that overall 16% DX12 game improvement. You know, many of those game devs released major performance patches between game release and now. Nvidia!

    - after my recent SSD failure, I've had to re-install Steam and populate it with my faves..

    - Fallout4 was an 85.2Gig download, with the HD DLC..
    - previous game saves went down the tubes with the SSD, so had to restart the whole game..
    - am up to Level 5..

    - a long road ahead..

Oh, that's not good. My sympathies!

Speaking of Fallout 4, I just started playing it as I see it is extremely well liked by gamers. Must admit I'm an amateur at this game. But I'm confused. I'm walking around by myself and finally find a few weapons. Then decide to go in a building where bad guys are. Try to pull out my weapons the usual way. Mouse wheel, or maybe 1, 2 or 3. Nope. I see I have to make some kind of a list for my weapons. OK I do that. I pull each of my weapons and I have no ammunition for any of them.

This is a little frustrating for an impatient first person shooter guy.

    - ha, ha!! I know what you mean, specialkone..
    - it pays to talk to the people you meet in the game - they'll let you in on a few secrets as you go along..
    - best not to wander around just hoping for the best.. it's a VERY dangerous world..
    - loot anything you can, it's all about survival..
    - the game mechanics are similar to those you find in Skyrim, which is not surprising since Bethesda made both games..
    - once you get the basic interface controls, it becomes a bit easier to negotiate the terrain..

    - right now I'm looking at getting the latest STYX game, the original was a blast..
    - it's available on Steam for £25 and well worth it, just for the fun of running with the creepy little fellow..
    - the new one costs about a tenner more, but it's gotta be worth it..
    - he really is one nasty little goblin..

Thanks for the Fallout 4 tips and support, BugMeister. Yes, I noticed it's important to talk to those you meet, and investigate everything. Seems I acquired a dog as a companion at this point.

I am trying to get into these RPG games as that's where the industry seems to be focused. After Doom, BF1 and GOW4, might be awhile before another good FPS game comes along. I enjoyed ROTTR, Witcher 3, Watch Dogs 2, GTAV but still trying to develop the patience required for the RPG's as compared to the instant mayhem of FPS games.

Ya, that goblin in STYX looks like a trouble maker:). Graphics look good in that trailer.

Dogmeat is awesome. Especially once you armor him up a bit.
