Blackrose (or anyone player WD2); what are your shadow settings in Watch Dogs 2? I've noticed many of the benchmarks around the net are using Ultra. GFE was setting mine with HFTS. No wonder frames were sometimes dropping to the 30's. Moving shadows from Ultra to HFTS is a 20 FPS hit at 1440P and 1080P. That's on a GTX 1080. Looks nice but way too much of a performance hit.

Wow, that's a massive drop. I'm pretty sure mine are set to PCSS. I've also read that turning off San Francisco Fog is a good way to boost framerates.

I guess Nvidia is looking for "game reasons" for two GTX 1080's in SLI and/or to present 1080 TI at CES 2017 and thus they invented HFTS .

San Francisco Fog, I haven't even attempted it yet. That would be a 32FPS hit.

Nvidia's hand in Watch Dogs 2? The GTX 1080 has only been widely available for 6 months or so ($700 USD). And here we have a game where you can't max out graphic settings at 1080P. LOL.

Whoa. I'm gonna have to turn it off next time I fire up WD2 and check to see what minimum framerates I hit.

Rumor is that the 1080 Ti is going to get introduced at CES in a couple of days. Hopefully they'll release it this month, and hopefully that will make 1080 prices drop. I'm kind of looking forward to SLI again.

Not sure the pricing on 1080's will be like 980's when the 980TI came out. Many expect the 1080TI to be priced somewhere between a 1080 and a Pascal Titan ($700-$1,200 USD). There would only be pressure on Nvidia to drop prices on the 1080 if AMD comes out with a performance answer to the 1080. I hope they do.

I hope they do too. I'd really like to see AMD become competitive again in both the GPU and CPU markets. Competition is good for everyone.

I can't afford the best of the best anyway. But at my price range. I usually get more bang for my buck going AMD. I'd like to see them be competitive at the high end anyway though, even if I can't afford it, lol.

Yes indeed. Today's situation - my PC build upgrade cost me $3,000 CDN. One third of that cost was one Nvidia GPU. At least Intel has been more reasonable on their pricing.

We can only hope at this point. Yes, AMD, MAKE SOME NOISE!

Radeon VEGA – Make. Some. Noise.

After turning HFTS off in WD2 and changing shadows to ultra I gained significant FPS so decided to try San Francisco Fog. I enabled it in graphic settings. Didn't see it; I know it's random. The problem solving training from my MBA degree (long ago) kicked in and a little voice in my head said: " to get SF Fog why don't you drive to SF, moron".

Good idea. I figured morning or evening. Been driving around SF for 15 minutes, on and off the Golden Gate bridge. The fog, where is it?
