need DirectX11.1 for game, MS site I have X12 and wont download, Win10

I play Everquest II and they are looking to start using X11 or X11.1, they haven't decided just yet which one.

I checked Windows Update, it refuses to update anything. I may have used a registry edit from here to block updates.

I looked on MS's site, apparently there is no longer a separately downloadable X11/X11.1 file. The site said I can get it via Windows Update.

MS' site says I have X12, and refuses to download X11/X11.1 as mine has a newer version. While X12 is supposed to be backwards compatible, the game servers specifically look for XX11.1.

My Win 10 computer has 8 megs of ram, a GeForce GT 710 video card. 500 gigs free of a SATA 2 HDD.

Here is their discussion about the X11 API.

How do I fix this on my computer ?

    Thanks.

    @jimjoe

For older programs, you may need this. I install this whether I need it or not...

If you need the legacy DX11 libraries: DirectX End-User Runtime

The feature level supported is DirectX 11.0 for the GT 710.

You cannot fix that in your PC other than installing a more recent Graphics Card.

The extra features can be emulated in the game software or the feature needing them could be disabled.
Software feature emulations are a lot slower than a hardware feature of the GPU so would actually be unusable.

The minimum requirements are 11.0 anyway, and it is Beta software thus many bugs are present as you can see from your reference.

Also, use the Direct X that @garlin linked.
The GT 710 was one of those crossover cards. It does support the early Dx 12, but only has the Dx 11 feature set.

Sometimes if you look in the game's install directory there will be a folder with the dependencies you need. In this case certain DirectX 11 DLLs bundled together as one self-extracting executable.

Isn't funny how Microsoft pushes newer DirectX versions and then leaves the legacy dependencies behind? It's horseshit and it pisses me off. Just like Wi-Fi 6 and now 7 and in four years Wi-Fi 8 with GOD speed! and asinine frequencies that'll never traverse a home let alone a business. It'll need to be all mesh. Your better off with fiber LAN FFS! Then USB Gen this and that and this... &^%$!

In a nutshell it just means they keep messing with the customer and it means what you thought was new is now old over night. Thereby the tech companies make more and more money and actually make more and more pollution, really... Hate to be "that hippie" but it's very true. China is a cesspool.

When I try to get on test server, where they currently require X11.1, the software says it isn't there and quits out to desktop.
@garlin, it says I have a newer version and it refuses to install.
@Ghot, I had some earlier versions, it has added those to my computer. Nice batch file.

@F22 Simpilot, that is planned obsolesence. Reminds me of the time we finally got dial phones, I was about 6 years old, and having to explain to my great grandmother that a zero in the phone number wouldn't dial the operator, but a zero by itself would. Her and her parents went across most of Texas in a wagon in 1895... so she didn't trust electricity.

On the EQ II forums I was told my Intel graphics chip is better. So I bought a VGA to HDMI adapter, with USB cable for sound... I now get 1920 x 1200 pixels, but still no X11.

A newer card will have to wait as I have vehicle repairs, etc. I need to get done.

    Thanks for the help folks.

    Well. Great jumping galloping ghosts.

I had run wub_x64 years ago and forgot about it. Set it to allow updates. They are installing now. Yippee!

I found the download X11 for Vista, Win 7, Win 8/8.1 and installed it. That worked.

Howdy! It's Uwk from EQ2; you got it to work??? Please share on our forums there, too, or if you have already, gimme the link!

And what the heck is wub_x64?
