    Admin Issues again?

    Hi Everybody.

Why Is the Administrator Blocking me from Installing some of my old CD Games?

Keep getting message "You need to have administrative rights on this computer to Install this game"

Wish I could get rid of the Administrator. He's Really beginning to annoying me!

    Thanks

    Paul.

On some of the older games/programs, you will need to open the CD in File Explorer and right click the "setup" file, and choose...
    "Run as Administrator".

Probably depends on where the game installer tries to write files.

Have you tried right clicking the installer, Run as admin?

Also is your account local or admin?

Hi Ghoat and dalchina, thanks for both your replies.

Thank you, but have tried to run It as an Administrator but with no response.

Also I am not sure whether the account Is local or admin?

But these Admin Issues are driving me up the wall, shouldn't have to change Permissions ever time you switch to another Game.

Their all on the same Desktop Computer.

Many thank again for the help.

    Paul.

Check if your account was set as administrator.

Determine Account Type in Windows 10

(searching the Tutorials section can help with lots of things...)

Installing is one thing, running another.

Are the games 16 bit at all? 16 bit elements are incompatible with a 64 bit O/S.
And do you perhaps have UAC off? (You shouldn't).

    Hi dalchina, thanks for reply.

Didn't remember/realise game was 16 Bit, I have wasted a lot of time on this one.

Probably a silly question but When Installing Windows 10 I have the option of Installing a 32 Bit or 64 Bit setup.

My question now Is (maybe a stupid one) will my other 64 bit games be compatible with a 32 bit system.

you can now see how much I know about Computers!

    many thanks

    Paul.

A lot of old games have been re-written for modern PCs.
    Check out this website...

    GOG.com

Also... if you tell us which old games you're trying to run... we may know work-arounds for those games.

For example, I have DOOM 1 & 2, and the original ZELDA running on Win 10 and Win 11.
No DOS Box either. And... I got them working with a joystick. (MS Sidewinder Precision 2)

You also have the option to use a virtual machine (VM) running under Win 10 (64 bit) for free.

You can install any O/S as a virtual machine (running in a window). Then you can install your games using that O/S.

That way you only need 1 PC with 1 O/S installed (the VM being an application).

For Win 10 Home you can use Virtualbox.

Also for 16bit games on Windows 10 64bit this works for me. Download link for winevdm is in the linked post.

GSP MONEY MATTERS 2 - really need this to run on Win 10??

Or see more info down the page here:
