    Administrator/Computer Issues Please?

Hi everybody, More problems I'm afraid. Have set this as a New Post as It Is different?

    Windows 10 Version 21H1 (OS BUILD 19043 3965

I have a situation going on In my Computer at the moment with games/simulations which I seem to have no control over.

There are Three games in questiion whih I will cover indiviually

    1. Silent hunter 4 Gold Edition. This can be played and then saved, go and play something else, come back to SH4 and play a new scenario
    or a saved game.

    2. Majong Towers Does exactly as above

    3. Monopoly New Edition does exactly the same as both above.

    HERE'S THE PROBLEM

When I close the Computer down At Night and Restart It In the Morning none of the above Work from their Desktop Shortcuts.

This Is beginning to really annoy me because I don't know what I'm doing wrong to cause this problem?

I have removed and Reinstalled these programmes on several occassions with no luck

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated please

    Many thanks

    Paul.

When I close the Computer down At Night and Restart It In the Morning none of the above Work from their Desktop Shortcuts.
    Forgive the 'obvious' questions...
    a. Can you launch the game from those shortcuts after first logging on?
    b. Can you close the game, then immediately relaunch it from those shortcuts?
    c. How did you create the shortcuts?

Please post a screenshot of the shortcut and its content showing where it points to.

Are these online games or ones you've installed?
Store games or ones you downloaded and installed not from the Store?

    Thanks.

    Hi dalchina, Thanks for reply.

Not sure how to send a Screenshot of Shortcuts but hope this helps.

I have all the CD's for these games/Simulations none are Downloads.

All are set to run as the Administrator.

As said Switching from one programme to the Another and opening the new programme wasn't a problem until I closed down for the Night.

But when restarted in the Morning none of the Shortcuts would respond.

    Hope this helps.

    Many thanks

    Paul.

Thanks. The shortcut data is needed to begin to try to understand why something might change after a restart.

Random example of a shortcut and its data:
    Administrator/Computer Issues Please?-1.jpgAdministrator/Computer Issues Please?-2.jpg

    Rt click the shortcut, Properties

Ensure yours show data that is relevant to your issue.

Are you running the games directly from the CDs or have you installed the game on your PC, which then requires data from the CDs whilst in use?

Hi dalchina, thanks again for reply.

Unable to take a Screenshot, Shift + PrtScn is not doing anything,.

Monopoly Requires the CD to run.

    Majong, Appologies, Is a Download.

Silent hunter 4 GOLD does not or never has required the CD to run In the Past.

    Thanks

There are dozens of ways of creating a screenshot.

    Take Screenshot in Windows 10

I often use a free program - Duckcapture
There are many screenshot programs (Google).

Windows has Snip & Sketch built in as an app

Failing all of that, the worst option is a phone/camera.. but make sure the image file isn't too large.

Well I would have to install these games myself to see if any problem. IDK why you have to still use CD with any games nowadays at least. There might be a way around running the game with the CD inserted in the slot. Like making a backup of the CD and then mounting the Disc as a drive when you need it. You could also keep it mounted for life.

Go to the actual game folder, ( right click your short cut and look for that specific location ), and then
find the executable you click in order to start the game itself. Try clicking the program it starts from
to see if it will load. Also if not try to right-click and "Run as administrator" just to see if that will make it
    load.

Check if there are any parameters being met within the target location. The target location has the location of the .exe ( or whatever ) it loads from. That is called an "argument", after that one argument if the program/app supports any commands
you could direct or give orders to. You need to search up the game to see any problems. Within the target locations you could
write commands. Like with an emulator you could direct it to load a rom, or with a something like scrcpy you could tell it to make
the actions window dissapear, or run in full screen or play or mute sound/video along with make logs.

The target location is literally no different then "path". Path is basically a listing of "Start in" that you could load from command-line any any argument or parameter you wish via text mode. Imagine having your folder of every game
shortcut and you just write in the name of the game/program/app you want to run without using any short cut or having
to worry about "Run as Administrator". In fact you could install "Sudo" / "Su" ( which is the same thing as "Run as administrator" )
which is Linux lingo but used via command-line before your program/app you have designated location ( Start in ) via "Path".

Also within the right-clicking the shortcut you should also see

Advanced Settings and clicking into that you will see "Run as Administrator"

    and

Compatibility where you could also select the same "Run as administrator" along with other settings.

Point being is that there is a good chance you might need that annoying shield before you startup a game in order for it to
run correctly. Clicking on "Run As Administrator" might solve your problem as well. You could also right click the
shortcut and select "Run As Administrator" to get the program/app to work.

That seems to my problem most of the time when something does not want to run.
