I want to bring back Game Explorer that was removed on Windows 10 1803

Hello! I have installed Windows 7 games from https://win7games.com and Vista games from Windows Vista Ultimate Extras : Microsoft Corporation : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive. But one thing that the Windows 7 games installer did not do is add the Game Explorer. I read what happened to the game explorer on the package, and this is what I found: The package has been updated to version 3.1. It now supports Windows 11 and fixes the error "Error opening file for writing: C:\Windows\System32\en-US\cmncliM.dll.mui". The non-working Game Explorer will no longer be installed. How do I get the Game Explorer back on Windows 10? Thanks!

They indicate that Game Explorer does not work in modern Windows, so I guess the answer is that you would have to run it in a VM (unless there is a patched version out there somewhere). Just to clarify, we're talking about a specific app and not just opening the Games folder in Explorer. The app is shown here:

But how do I find an patched version of the Game Explorer? How do I bring back the good old Game Explorer that was removed? I have Virtualbox, so I might try the Game Explorer on Windows 22H2 out when tell me where is there a patched version or a link to all the files for Game Explorer or an installer

Then you can run on older version of Windows complete with Game Explorer. That may be easier than trying to get it working with a current OS.

It can't not work.

If I want to run some old Win 9x games, I spin up a Windows 98 VM (I use VMWare) and the entire stack of Win 9x games I have run flawlessly. In your case, it should be a matter of loading up Windows 7 (or even an older Windows 10 with updates disabled) and then the Game Explorer should run (and may already be installed).

Running Windows 10 1803 (or newer) in your VM won't do you any good. It has to be an older OS.

My understanding is that Game Explorer only works with a Windows version older than Windows 10 1803, so, one wouldn't expect it to work with Windows 10 22H2.

Is there a particular reason why you don't want to run Game Explorer in a VM? If that's not acceptable, then all I can offer are the instructions at the link I provided earlier which, based on the comments, seemed to work as long as your language is EN-US.
