    Memory could not be written

    Good morning all.

I got this error yesterday evening while using Microsoft Flight Simulator. (MSFS)

    Memory could not be written-mem.png

I'm not sure if this indicates a physical problem with the "memory" (RAM - ?) or is a problem with MSFS?

It happened earlier this week also again while using MSFS.

When playing other games on my PC (FM22, EVE Online, X-Plane 11, Formula 1 2022) I haven't had this error.

I am currently running memtest86 to check my RAM for errors. I don't have access to my Windows 10 version number at the moment other than to say it is fully udpated.

Despite the error MSFS continues to run.

    Thank you.

    Hello @lionwing,

For a first fix, I would check that the BIOS is upto date, clear the Temp files etc, and then Restart.

Then I would create System Image, uninstall the program, and then re-install it. If this works, then all well and good, if NOT, then you can revert back using the System Image previously created.

It might also be worth keeping ANY configuration settings and saved games, to be on the safe side.

    I hope this helps.

    @lionwing

If the memory (RAM) was the problem, you would have those errors everywhere.

So, as others have said... just do a clean install of MSFS

Thank you all for your input.

Memtest reports the RAM as fine. I would have been surprised with any other result.

I follows the advice linked to above on the MSFS forum (removing MSFS but not the content) and completed a flight of just under two hours without a hitch. More test flights planned for the weekend.
