Gaming Site Question, Steam or GOG?.

I have only ever played two games on my PC both long term, the one being the Football Manager series and the other being Elite Dangerous both of which I bought direct from the source. Recently I came across a couple of games called Fishing: Barents Sea and Fishing: North Atlantic and as I am a retired deep sea fisherman I am interested in them and intend to buy the North Atlantic one. As far as I can tell this game can only be bought via two sites one being Steam the other being GOG. I know a litle about Steam having read varying reports on it on the Frontier forums for Elite Dangerous but I know nothing about GOG other than it appears to be legit. Reading the reviews on both sites there are more pros than cons but would appreciate any of you proper gamers advice on which one is "best"?.

GOG is totally legit. Best of all, GOG required no installed client to play their games.

Personally, I always download the game's offline installer.

I purchase my games from GOG whenever they are available there because of their "DRM-free" model which is why you can get offline installers without needing to be connected to the internet to verify the purchase.

I am also digging their game launcher which is GOG Galaxy (optional):

GoG games a drm free whereas Steam are so GOG wins there.
GoG games often have fixes available for problem games. These can be resolution fixes/upgrades to OS compatibility fixes.
The GoG version of some games are the full games whereas the Steam version either doesn’t work well or has been edited. An example is the old PS1 Dracula game, the Steam version omits several points in the game whereas the GoG version has these.
Both Steam & GoG have regular sales.

Thanks for the replies people, I took the advice and bought it via GOG this morning and also installed their launcher, It all went well. Although I haven't had time to play it yet I did go through the various menus and it appears to work okay out of the box. Again thanks a lot to you all.
