minmize games to task bar, come back later to play and HUGE stutter

Wondering if anyone knows what this might be. I have enough RAM and this happens with many games old and new and some never. When i minimize the game to the taskbar and come back later and maximize it to play some more, the stutter/lag is so bad it's unplayable and i have to restart the game which is a PITA with games that have long startup times.. I thought about ram getting replaced with other things during the minimized period but the thing is it even happens if i did nearly nothing on the PC between minimizing it and coming back to play. The one thing that is ALWAYS part of the issue is that the period of non activity has to be fairly long. Going away for 10 minutes won't cause it. Maybe not even 20. Just guessing, as i have not timed it. But i would guess it takes at least 30 or maybe 45 min or an hour. Any ideas?

I have also encountered this. I am on a fairly decent gaming laptop (see My Computer) but couldn't put a finger down as to why. I just retired to the thought that some games are better optimised and others aren't considering the randomness of it.

If possible, you can try to avoid the need of restarting the game if you open a screen within the game that has very low rendering needs (like static menus), let the FPS pick back up, and go back into the game. May not solve everything but can lessen the PITA.

    Good luck!

Thanks but I always minimize it while in the menu screen.
