    Tweaking page file size

With 32gb ram running win10 mostly for games, what is the best page file size setting ? Should i leave it at default,
increase it or disable it ?

With 32GB of RAM, you'll probably rarely ever use the page file. Leave it at default.

Agreed, most times an adjustment needed that I've run into was with video editing, large spreadsheets and large databases.

    If desired....

Page file size increases 5X after adding a bigger storage drive

I heard from some source long long ago to set minimum and maximum of the pagefile to one half of available RAM. I might have remembered this incorrectly.

Back in the days of the swap file on consumer computers [Win95/98/98SE/ME] it was written in Help and Support on Virtual Memory to use 2.5 times the physical RAM, more if programs needed it. With the slower HDDs of the time it was a good thing to turn it off completely, reboot and defrag the drive then reset it to the same number for max and min, stored the file all in contiguous space on the drive, always showed improved read and write speed. However, the best speed usually turned out to put it on a second drive, different read/write heads. At one point on an 80486 computer I had 3 Maxtor HDDs of 345MB each and 1 ODD.

Bear in mind paging isn't so straightforward- it involves compressed memory too.

Only if you have a small amount of RAM but even then it's probably best to use "system managed"

There is no concrete answer. You need to do your own tests and check results to determine if a page file is required or what size it should be for optimum performance.

I'd suggest that this quote from the above article is correct.

Page file sizing depends on the system crash dump setting requirements and the peak usage or expected peak usage of the system commit charge. Both considerations are unique to each system, even for systems that are identical. This means that page file sizing is also unique to each system and cannot be generalized.

I have it disabled, but 32GB is not that much. I had one game crashing, there was no indication why, it used 12GB, I had 16GB, so it ran out of memory. RAM is also used by GPU, as long as you are aware, it is up to you.
